Tightly gripping my hair and pulling on it, a low growl echoed out from my throat, scaring a few small critters near by to silence. How can I be so stupid?
Marking Iris like that all because I couldn't keep my wolf at bay and let her slip out. Dame it!
Hitting a near by tree, a giant chunk of it went flying off. Creating a hole at the side of it. But that didn't simmer down my rage. Nothing can at this point.
Shaking and gritting my head, my teeth began to sharpen, claws growing, eyes glowing red, and body started to turn.
Feeling a presence behind me, I abruptly spun around and swung. The person narrowly dodged and stared at me with a nervous smile. It was Gamma Leo, Beta Roxie's younger brother and the third strongest wolf in the pack.
I growled, my transforming pausing as I stood up straight. Keeping my wolf back to not lose full control. "What is it, Gamma Leo." My voice was cold when I spoke, making him even more nervous as he avoided eye contact while unable to keep still where he stood.
"Just wanted to check up on you, Alpha. You seemed extremely pissed off these last few days and it has the entire pack's on edge." My eyes narrowed, looking him up and down.
Gamma Leo had dark brown hair, the common red eyes for Rogues, and was six foot six, just two inches shorter than myself. He may look intimidating with the few scars he has and built, but he's just a bonehead that gets on my nerves.
"I don't need you, or anyone else, checking to see if I'm alright." My gaze became more fierce as I clench my jaw, bearing my giant canines. "Do not see me as weak or I'll show you the full extent of my anger."
He bowed his head and bared his neck. "Of course, Alpha." I signed, feeling myself calm down slightly. Turning away, I leaned against the tree I punched just a minute ago. "How are the new recruits?"
"You mean the wolves from the Golden River Pack? They're have lost their way but are seemingly doing semi okay here. Their pups are pitiful to say the least."
Dame it. Why do we keep on finding wolves that have lost their way of life. Do they honestly believe that accepting the humans way would make them stronger? Better? The fools all of them! How dare they abandoned the way of the Moon Goddess!
"Alpha?" Snapping out of my thoughts, I looked over at Gamma Leo. Seeing his worried expression that just anger me more. "The Luna...when are you going to see her?" What?
Staying quiet, Leo continued. "It's been days ever since you brought her back marked and locked her up at the Healers place like a criminal, and the pack-I am worried that you may..."
He trailed off, watching as I pushed myself off the tree and slowly made my way over at him until I stood right in front of him. Glaring down at him.
"My hands are all ready soiled with the blood of many." I reminded. "I don't mind adding yours to the mix if you don't stop questioning me about my mate." He gulped, nodding his head while taking a step back.
Standing there for a moment longer, I stepped past him and journey back to the pack while Gamma Leo stayed right where he was. Not following.
Getting back to the edge of the tree line, I walked pasted it and saw everyone doing their task for the day with my warriors gone to do some hunting and the pups running about playing.
Everyone gave me one glance before quickly looking away, staying out of my way. Knowing that I wasn't in the mood for any bullshit at the moment.
The pups were excited to see me but their mothers kept them away.
Reaching the Healers Lodge, I sauntered in. Closing the door behind me. The Healers paid no attention towards me as they were too busy fixing up remedies for the injured.
Going up the steps to the second floor and turned the corner, Amber was standing in front of my little mate's room, tray of food in hand. She noticed my presence and bowed her head. "Alpha."
Turning back to the door, she slipped out the wooden key and unlocked it. Opening the door, she walked in with me following her.
Amber went over to the table while my brows furrowed upon seeing Iris not on the bed. My confusion only grew when seeing her laying on the floor, in the corner, asleep.
Just seeing her made all the anger inside me instantly disappear. My body relaxed and my gaze softened. Going over to my little mate, I sat down right beside her, leaning against the wall while staring down at her in silence.
Reaching over after a moment, my hand gently brushed her light ash brown hair out of the way to see her better. Seeing her asleep always brought me peace, something I never felt before until she came into my life.
Finding her in the Golden River Pack was a true gift from the Moon Goddess. The only thing that irritates me is that her pack tormented and abused-no, they tortured my flower into obedience. Into making her think she's not good enough for me.
The whip marks on her back, the marks and bruises from beatings, and her broken hand and ankle. Just seeing it all makes me want to kill them all. Especially, Raymond. Goddess, he doesn't even deserve to be called an Alpha. That insufferable bastard.
How can he allow such a thing to happen to one of his pack members, someone he should be protecting but except, he allowed it to continue and is the reason for the majority of her scars.
I want to beat that Hewolf to death with my bare hands. If only he hasn't escaped that night along with his family. That bloody coward!
Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I focused back on my mate. Calming down again. "Why isn't she wearing my shirt?"
"She refused to wear it, Alpha." Amber stated, standing next to the table where she had placed the tray. I should expected as much. She has every right to be angry at me.
Gently rubbing Iris's forehead with my thumb, her eyes suddenly squinted and a low moaned left her. She stirred and turned around, her back now facing me. I sighed. Even in sleep, she hates me.
My wolf whimpered at that and I felt her sadness engulfed me.
About to get up, I noticed something on the back of Iris's neck. Moving her long hair out of the way, my eyes widened at what I saw. My anger came back and a low growl escaped me.
On the back of her neck, there was a scar of a small hill with a river going down it. The symbol of the Golden River Pack.
Even more of a reason to give Raymond a slow and painful death.
