Hearing the door open, my head quickly shot up from the shirt. My cheeks flushed when a shewolf walked in. It was the woman that gave me the tray of food. Amber, was it? What is she doing back here?
She spotting the tray on the table and saw that a little was eaten. "It seems that you have ate a little. Good, it's better than nothing." Turning back to look at me, I quickly bowed my head.
There was a loud sigh, then footsteps. My head lowered when she came over and picked up the cup before walking away. Lifting up my head just a little. I watched through my hair as Amber picked up the tray at the table and silently left. Not even glancing at me when doing so.
The room went quiet. The only things that was heard were the sounds of people outside. I was tempted to stand up and look out the window but that might get me into trouble, so I didn't.
The sound of the door opened again which made me snap my head back down. Amber walked up to me again and stopped a couple feet away. "Come child, you shouldn't be on the ground." She reached out a hand for me to grab. No words left me as I stayed in place.
Without saying a word, the shewolf's arm went back to her side and she knelt down. Sitting down on her knees while placing her hands flat against her legs. What a weird siting position.
Glancing up at her confused, her red eyes met with my brown ones. Startled, I went back to staring at the ground.
What is she doing? Why is she sitting down on the ground? There's chairs over at the table or she could be sitting on the bed.
Speaking of the bed, I have to change the sheets. I got my filth all over it. This is why Alpha only allows me to sleep on cardboard. I get everything filthy. I'm not clean.
Hearing the shewolf suddenly speak made me flinch out of my thoughts. "The Alpha stormed out of here like a beast that has failed in catching their prey, half transformed and all. You must have said something that really pissed her off." My frown deepen. Was she really that angry?
Hesitantly opening my mouth, it took a moment to let the words out. "Will...will Azrael be alright?"
"The Alpha? Yes, she'll be alright. Right about now, she's either deep into the forest and is currently destroying it or she's sparring with the warriors to release some steam. What did you say to her anyways?"
A low whimper escape me. Knees coming up to my chest with my arms wrapped around them as I continue to stare down at the ground. Thinking about the conversation me and Azrael had.
"I told her to reject me." My heart broke all over again just saying that. Amber let out a loud gasp, her hands tensing up while she froze. Unable to say something for a moment. "You said what?"
Why is she so shocked? "I told Azrael to reject me." It's the best course of action for her replication. I don't want anyone making fun of her for being mated to a runt.
"Child, you can not just simply reject someone on a whim. There are dire consequences and it is not that simple. It is also really disrespectful to our goddess." Amber scolded, which made me wince back by the tone of her voice. She sounds like a mama wolf scolding her pups. And I am not a pup. "What makes you even think to say that to your mate?"
"But, I am a nobody. Azrael isn't. She deserves someone better. If she rejects me now, she find a more suitable mate." Tears formed in my eyes but there were quickly blinked away. No crying, or I will give you a reason to cry.
"Sweet child," The way the shewolf's voice went from mean to soft and kind which made me uncomfortable. No one has ever talked to me like that before. It's kind of awkward to hear. "no one is born a nobody. We are all someone in our own way." Not me. I've always been a nobody. Nothing but a mistake since birth.
Not even my pack wanted me. The only reason why they didn't get rid of me was because they needed someone to do all the chores. Alpha and Elijah told me so multiple times over the years.
"Plus, even if you are so and so a "nobody",
Alpha Azrael is a very selfish woman. She rather destroy werewolf kind then to let you go." Lier. Azrael wouldn't do that. Would she? I'm not that important. Wait-that doesn't matter. If she won't do the rejection, then I would. To keep her safe from being made fun at.
"She doesn't deserve me. I'm filthy. She's clean." I heard Amber sigh again. "You are so stubborn. I can see why the Moon Goddess paired you with her." She mumbled, slowly getting up from the ground and walked over to the door, opening it.
Right before she left, she said one more thing. "You're wrong about, the Alpha you know. She has more filth on her than anyone I have ever met." With that, she left. Shutting the door behind her, which didn't close fully close cause it was broken.
But what she said made me angry to my very core. A low growl escape me while my nails dug into my skin. How dare that shewolf talk about my mate like that! Azrael is clean! She is not filthy! She is clean!
Closing my eyes and taking deep breaths, I slowly calmed down after a while of sitting there. My body easing up and my shoulders relaxed. Sighing, I rubbed my eyes, feeling tired.
Laying down on the hard floor, I cuddled into Azrael's shirt, inhaling her scent that made all the tension go away. Shutting my eyes, I went back asleep with a small smile on my face.
