My mind was still racing when learning the fact that I was mated to royalty. How the goddess did someone like me end up with a Queen? Wait. Is Azrael a Queen?
Her brother, King Aspen, was crowned ruler of Werewolf kind after the passing of his father. So, typically, isn't she still a princess? I don't believe that King Aspen has any children yet, just his mate, the Queen. Don't recall her name.
I actually don't know much about the Royal Family, just the bare minimum. Eavesdropping on Alpha and his friends comes in handy for times like this.
So lost in my thoughts, I didn't even notice Azrael carry me outside after over a week of keeping me locked up in her bedroom.
When I did notice the soft breeze against my skin, I snapped out of my thoughts. Only to get embarrassed when realizing that a whole bunch of wolves were staring at me.
My cheeks flushed and I quickly hid my face against Azrael's chest. Feeling the Alpha's chest rumble as she laughed, a small whine left me and I snuggled my face deeper into her. "Az, stop being mean to be."
Despite my words being muffled, Azrael still heard me and she laughed. "You're so adorable." Stopping, I peaked my head out a little just before Azrael sat me down on a rock. I looked up at her confused while she took a step back.
Looking around, everyone seemed to be waiting and some were talking to each other to past the time. A few pups were unable to keep still as their mothers did their best to keep them at their side.
That's right, Azrael did say that the pack was going on for a run to make up for them unable to do so during the full moon. Her pack is very big, too many to count.
Shifting my gaze back up to Azrael, she gave me a small, sad smile. "Perhaps...do you want to run with us, little mate?" I hummed in surprised.
Never have I ran with a pack before, The Golden River Pack rarely go on one runs together. But when they do, I'm told to stay behind. And I also can't shift, it'll be a problem if I do go with them on the run.
Smiling, my head shook and I waved my hand. "No, I'm okay. You guys can go without me. Besides, it's not like I can join you anyways since I can't shift."
Azrael's smile fell and she only looked down at me with pity. Before I could stop myself in front of all these wolves, I lifted a hand and placed it on Azrael's cheek. Still smiling up at her.
"I'll be alright, Az. Don't worry about me, go enjoy the run with your pack." She leaned into my touch, placed a hand over mine, sighing. "Our pack."
I paused, before smiling again. Letting out a quiet chuckle on how cute she was being. How can anyone be afraid of her? "Our pack."
Azrael stared at me for a moment longer, seeming to not want to leave me here all alone but she finally relented when I pulled my hand away.
She sighed, moving hair out of the way to kiss my forehead. "Be careful, my love. We shall return by sundown."
Standing up straight and taking a step back, Azrael turned around and walked over to her-our pack for their run. "Wolves of The Wild Blood-Moon Pack." Everyone stopped and looked at her. "Let's Run!"
They all cheered excitedly, giant smiles on their faces. Beginning to take off their fur clothing to not rip it. That was quickly done.
I blushed upon seeing Azrael in her full glory, wanting to cover up with so no one could see her in such a state. Only I can!
Lowly growing in anger with it boiling inside, I held myself back. Watching as the pack began to shift with ease which took a moment.
It was easy to spot Azrael, she was larger than everyone else by a foot and her fur was pitch black while the others had brown fur or light black. A few had different colors through.
I couldn't help but to feel a little jealous and sad to see them shift into their wolf form. A bitter taste formed in my mouth and my fingers curled into a tight fist.
Azrael gave me one more glance and I waved. Swallowing back my emotions and forced a smile, in return, Azrael gave me the best smile she could make in her wolf form.
Turning back, she threw her head back and howled for the forest to hear. She was soon joined by the rest of the pack as they also howled.
When they were done, Azrael took charge and began to ran into the woods, leading them and they quickly followed.
No one really pay much attention to me but I did feel a few glances on me as they ran off. I just shrugged it off.
It took a couple of minutes for everyone to leave, leaving me all alone with my lonesome self. Sighing, I leaned back against the rock I was sitting on.
There's other reason why I can't shift that I haven't told Azrael yet. After I blocked out my wolf and send her to the deepest depths of my mind, my emotions would randomly get the better of me as she fought to take control. To be free and shift.
Sometime she would slip and cause trouble. After a few times of this happing, Alpha grew annoyed at my outbursts of unable to control my wolf so he ordered and forbid me from shifting.
I don't remember that last time I had ever shifted, nor do I remember what my wolf looks like either. Deep down, I knew she's furious at me from blocking her and sad that she's been locked up for these past few years, all alone.
She deserves someone better than me. Someone strong. Someone unwilling to lock their wolf up just to survive to the next day.
When was the last time I even felt her presence?
Lowing my gaze, I stared at the grass beneath me.
Green trees surrounding me with the wind blowing against me and waving my hair in the air. All was quiet except for the rustling leaves.
Tilting my head back after a moment, I looked up at the sky. Feeling the sun on my pale skin. Frowning sadly, my eyes closed. In the distance, I could hear the packs paws hit the ground as they ran.
Hopefully, Azrael isn't too upset with me for not joining. Maybe I should do something to make her happy.
Feeling a sudden sharp pain from my chest, I leaned forward, gritting my teeth. Raising a hand and gripped my chest where I had felt the pain. Taking deep breaths to calm myself.
What was that?
