Slowly sitting up from bed, the blanket falling off me, I looked over at Azrael. Seeing her hunch forward, shoulders shaking, and heard soft sobs that she tried to muffled.
Not saying anything, I silently got out of bed and walking over to her. Ignoring my aching muscles. Reaching her, I pressed my forehead against her back and wrapped my arms around her stomach.
She flinched under my touch but didn't move away. Grabbing my arm with her hand. After a while of us just standing there, Azrael straighten up and turned to me. I looked up at her, seeing her teary eyes full of heartache and pain.
Trying to hold back her sobs, she fell to her knees. Wrapping her arms around me and placed her face against my stomach. I held back a winch when she did that. She needed this, a little bit of pain isn't going to hurt me.
Tears soaking my shirt, I started playing with Azrael's hair. She had cut it recently so it was back the way it used to be, just reaching her shoulders and not below them.
"Forgive me, Iris. Forgive me...I should have never have gotten you involved in this mess. It's all my fault." She whispered, her voice, once full of power and strength, now weak and breaking at each word spoken.
Tapping against the top of her head, Azrael lifted her head to look up at me. Her face hot and red, tears rolling down her face, teary and tired eyes half open, and bags underneath them.
She looks so vulnerable right now. I've never seen her vulnerable before. I hate it, but love how much she trust me so much to show this side of her.
Looking down at Azrael sadly, I moved my hands to hold her face. Leaning down to press my forehead against hers. "You heard the witch, Az. Our baby was going to die no matter what." I said, my own tears forming in my eyes as I did my best to keep my voice steady. "At least now, the Goddess is taking care of them for us now."
Taking a deep breath to calm my shaking hands, blinking away the tears, I looked deep into Azrael's eyes. "All we can do now, is make sure King Aspen doesn't take another one of our loved ones away. He's done enough damage to your family."
Azrael told me the story of how Aspen killed their entire family one night. Nearly killed her if Azrael didn't run away before he got the job done.
The two are twins, the doctors had forgotten which was born first so for years there was no heir. Until Azrael was decided to have the crown next because the formal king and queen thought she would be a better ruler than her twin, Aspen.
The rage and want Aspen went through to kill his own family and take the crown away from his sister much have been a lot.
But, that doesn't excuse what he had done. He killed his parents, younger siblings, send his army to attack us which lead to the death of my child by my own sister. I am going to make that bastard pay. "Do you understand, Az?"
Nodding her head, Azrael sniffed. "Yes, my flower. I understand." Wiping away her tears, Azrael unwrapped her arms around me and stood up. Her expression becoming cold as she towered over me. "However, only two thirds of the army are trained warriors. The rest are lacking. It's gonna take some time to get them up to speed and wolves are joining nearly every day."
Thinking for a moment, Azrael continued to speak. "If we don't want to get attacked again, we will have to send some of our army to meet the enemy head on and keep them back to give us some time. The only problem is, we'll lose warriors like that and we're already dealing with having the false king have more warriors than us." She growled annoyed.
I smiled, shifting from foot to foot excitedly. "I think I have a plan." Azrael opened her eyes, looking down at me and tilled her head. A wonder look in her eyes. "What kind of plan."
"Have you ever heard of guerilla warfare?" She shook her head. "It's mostly about using the element of surprise when you have a small group that's up against a larger force. Like, when the larger group is tired, you strike. The same when they are retreating. You sabotage, hit the enemies weak points, focus on killing the high rankers warriors that give orders, and create fear so much so that the enemy doesn't have the will to fight you anymore."
"That's fighting dirty, little mate." I nodded my head. "It is, but why should it matter to us? We're Rogues. We cheat all the time. We're dirty, evil mutts." Sighing, a small smile formed as Azrael's face and she ran her fingers through her hair. "And where did you hear of this...guerilla warfare...Iris?"
"When you have access to the Internet and your brother's old girlfriend love to watch historical events and past, you pick up a thing or two. Humans are smart creatures and come up with the most interesting things. For example," I leaned closer. "have you ever heard of a smoke bomb?"
"No, I have not." Staring at me for a moment, Azrael sighed again. "Your plan is amazing, my love, truly. But, you know how I feel about humans." Her hatred for those weak creatures is very intense.
"I know, but it's the only option if we don't want to lose many lives. Plus, my love, we're not using any human technology, just their ideas."
Azrael softly chucked at that, shaking her head. "You got me there, my flower." She looked down at me, a smile on her lips. "You're right. We're not using the humans technically so I guess it won't hurt to use this guerilla warfare. I'll have the others make a plan on what to do during our next meeting and you're coming with me."
"Why am I coming?"
"Because, I know zero about this new type of fighting and because you are my Luna. It only makes sense for you to be at the meeting." Azrael grinned. I hummed, shrugging my shoulders. "Okay, I'll join you in this meeting."
