Having escaped danger, Zhaochun Pavilion was naturally filled with harmony. However, the other concubines were not faring so well.

Yi Zhaorong returned and threw a fit.

Seeing how easily Ye Yun could achieve the title of consort, she was still only a recent addition among the top three of the nine concubines, making her exceedingly jealous.

Over the years, her favor had diminished year by year, with the Emperor only visiting her two or three times a month. Even getting a chance to share the bed was a rarity.

She wanted to have a child as well, but she needed the Emperor's cooperation.

The only consolation she had was that the Third Prince was doing well; he was excelling in his studies and often receiving praise from his teacher as well as the Emperor.

While she was lost in thought, she heard the servants say that the Third Prince had arrived.

"Son pays respects to Mother." The Third Prince entered the room and performed his customary greeting.

"Quick, no need for formalities! What brings you here on such a hot day?" Yi Zhaorong hurriedly helped the child up and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.

The Third Prince smiled happily. "Today I recited my lessons, and the teacher praised me again. I was supposed to return to Ruyi Pavilion with my second brother for lunch, but Jing De Fei sent someone to take him to Zhongcui Palace for the meal, so I came back instead."

"That's good! I was just preparing to bring you some snacks after school this afternoon," Yi Zhaorong said with a smile. She quickly instructed Yun Xiu to prepare the Third Prince's favorite dishes.

Once mother and son were seated at the table, the Third Prince finally asked, "Mother, today I heard from someone close to Jing De Fei that Her Highness Ming Zhaoyi is going to have another little brother, is that true?"

Last night during the Mid-Autumn Festival banquet, the children were too young to attend, so they were unaware of the developments from yesterday.

Yi Zhaorong's expression darkened slightly. "Yes, she is pregnant again, but whether it will be a boy or a girl is still uncertain."

Sensing his mother's gloomy mood, the Third Prince lowered his head uncomfortably. "Father often goes to Her Highness's place. If she has two children, then Father will visit even more. Will I still get to see Father?"

"Of course you will," Yi Zhaorong quickly collected herself, smiling as she patted her son's head. "As long as you study hard, Father likes you and will naturally come to see you. You don't need to worry so much."

The Third Prince nodded immediately. "Yes, Mother, don't worry. I will study well."

He added, "Since Father doesn't have time to accompany you, I will come back often to keep you company after finishing my studies."

"Good boy! As long as you do your best, I won't mind anything else," Yi Zhaorong said with a look of relief.

After they finished their meal, the Third Prince needed to return to complete his assignments given by his teacher, so he left.

Yi Zhaorong, feeling sorry for her son, prepared a large number of things to send with him.

Meanwhile, the Eldest Prince was sitting in his courtyard. Hearing the commotion outside, he stepped out for a stroll and saw his younger brother returning with many items.

This reminded him of the past when Wan Xiuyuan would also prepare many things for him, along with their grandmother and the Empress.

As for his biological mother, An Shi, he had completely forgotten her.
