The sun was beginning it's descent over the vast fields of Rajasthan, casting a warm golden glow over the intricate arches and sandstone walls of the Jeon Haveli.
Inside, the sounds of preparations for the wedding of Jung-guk echoed through the air—servants rushing to and fro, women gossiping in the corners, and men gathered in small groups, discussing important matters.
In the midst of this hustle and bustle, Dadi-sa sat on her large wooden chair, the fabric of her dark-colored ghaghra choli rustling softly as she adjusted her shawl. Her eyes were sharp, though she appeared calm, her mind focused on one thing: the arrival of an important guest. Her voice rang out like a bell through the commotion, commanding attention.
Dadi-sa- Jungkook! (she called, her tone firm, demanding his immediate presence)
Jungkook, who had been inspecting some wedding details in the courtyard, straightened his back at the sound of his name and quickly made his way towards her. His posture was perfect, exuding the air of a district collector. As he entered the room, his eyes briefly flickered towards Dadi-sa.
Jk- Ji, Dadi-sa. (he answered, his voice low, a slight frown marking his features as he took in the scene)
Without missing a beat, Dadi-sa looked up at him from her seat, her hands folded neatly in her lap.
Dadi-sa- Go to the railway station and pick up your Bua-sa. She is coming all the way for Jung-guk’s wedding. Do not make her wait.
Jungkook’s response was a simple,
Jk- Hmm. (as he gave a slight nod, preparing himself to leave)
His mind was preoccupied with the constant wedding details, and this task seemed like one more responsibility on his already loaded shoulders.
However, Dadi-sa wasn’t finished.
Dadi-sa- And take your Gharwali with you. (she added, her voice leaving no room for argument)
Jungkook’s gaze flickered with annoyance.
Jk- Dadi-sa, I will go alone.
Dadi-sa’s sharp gaze fixed him in place.
Dadi-sa- Your Bua-sa is coming after so many years, and you will treat her arrival like this? Is this how you welcome an important guest? You will go to the station and bring her, but not alone. Take your Gharwali with you as well.
Jungkook huffed in frustration, his jaw tightening.
Jk- Fine. (he muttered, walking towards the door with a swift movement)
He grabbed his car keys off the table before turning to Dadi-sa.
Jk- Send her out. (he said curtly)
Dadi-sa simply nodded.
Tae, who had been busy with some household chores, was caught off guard when a servant entered the room to inform her that she needed to accompany Jungkook to the station.
She nodded quietly, her thoughts preoccupied with the tasks she hadn’t yet completed for the day.
After a brief moment of adjusting her ghunghat and making sure her attire was perfect, she walked out of the haveli. As she stepped outside, she noticed Jungkook already seated inside the car, his posture tense and his hands gripping the steering wheel firmly. Without sparing her a single glance, he revved the engine, signaling her to get in.
Tae, feeling the cold tension in the air, opened the car door and slid into the passenger seat. Jungkook started the car immediately, without saying a word, and the engine hummed to life, the rhythmic sound filling the silence that stretched between them.
