SIX YEARS LATER....

The air inside Jeon Residence's study was thick with the scent of parchment, aged wood, and a faint trace of sandalwood incense from the pooja room nearby. A single oil lamp flickered beside the large wooden desk, casting shadows on the walls lined with scrolls, books, and official documents.

Jungkook sat in his mahogany chair, his broad frame slightly slouched as he signed the last document for the day. He let out a deep sigh, the sound almost lost in the silence of the room.

His once sharp jawline had matured, carrying the weight of years and experience. His once smooth forehead now bore fine lines, each telling a different story of struggles, losses, and victories. His raven-black hair, now streaked with silver, was tied into a loose knot at the back of his head, with a few strands falling onto his forehead.

He had changed.

The years had sculpted him into a man of wisdom and restraint, but some wounds-some regrets-never truly healed.

His gaze shifted toward the calendar hanging on the wall.

27th June.

The same date.

The day he had lost their child.

The day Tae had almost bleed to death in his arms.

The day he had failed as a father.

The day he had failed as a husband.

Jungkook's grip on the pen tightened. The soft scratch of ink on paper ceased. His chest tightened as memories, bitter and painful, resurfaced like old wounds torn open.

He could still hear it-her cries of pain, the scent of blood, the helplessness that gripped him when he realized he couldn't save what was already lost.

A deep sigh left his lips as he ran his calloused fingers through his hair.

But just when the darkness of his thoughts threatened to consume him-

Chime.

A sweet, rhythmic sound of anklets echoed in the room.

Jungkook closed his eyes momentarily.

A small, knowing smile tugged at his lips.

He knew who it was.

She always came when he was drowning in his past.

Tae, the Woman Who Had Endured It All

"Sa..."

Her voice echoed through the small study, carrying the same firmness, authority, and warmth it always had.

She stormed inside, hands firmly placed on her hips, her brows furrowed in anger as she glared at him.

Jungkook leaned back slightly, tilting his head, his smile widening.
