The atmosphere in the Jeon family's grand living room was tense, with each of the men seated in silence, waiting for Dadi-sa to speak. She sat at the head of the room, her presence commanding respect.
Jung-guk looked hopeful, eager to hear what she would say. Jungkook, however, leaned back with his arms folded, his expression unreadable.
Dadi-sa finally broke the silence.
Dadi-sa- I have made a decision for Jung-guk's marriage. The girl I've chosen is none other than Tae's Kaka's daughter, Sumi.
At these words, a surprised murmur filled the room. From the kitchen, Tae overheard Dadi-sa's declaration, and her eyes went wide with shock. Sumi? So young and barely out of childhood... she thought, worry creeping into her heart.
Jungkook cleared his throat, breaking the quiet.
Jk- Dadi-sa, I don't mean any disrespect, but don't you think Jung-guk should focus on finding a job first? He needs to establish himself and secure a future before even thinking about marriage.
Dadi-sa's face hardened as she met his gaze.
Dadi-sa- And you think you're in a position to lecture anyone on family responsibilities? (her voice took on a sharper edge) You are the one lacking in the most important duty: giving this family an heir. Look to yourself before you speak about others.
Jungkook clenched his jaw, her words stinging more than he cared to admit. His hands balled into fists at his sides as he stood up, intending to leave the conversation.
Dadi-sa- Sit down, Jungkook! (her voice was strong and firm, like she knew what he would do)
Jungkook sat back down, unwillingly, with a stubborn look in his eyes, but he didn't say anything.
Dadi-sa continued, unbothered by his reaction.
Dadi-sa- I plan to announce the engagement on the first day of Diwali. There will be no more delays.
Jungkook stiffened, his voice cold but controlled.
Jk- If Kamlesh and his family want to come here, they're welcome. But I won't set foot in that house again. That Kamlesh has disrespected me infront of everyone, and I refuse to ignore that.
At this, Mr. Jeon's temper flared.
Mr Jeon- Enough, Jungkook! You and your mother have always been a hurdle to this family's happiness. And now, when Jung-guk's marriage is being discussed, you bring up these small grievances?
Jungkook's gaze hardened at Mr. Jeon's words. However before he could reply back; Dadi-sa spoke;
Dadi-sa-Whatever happened, Jungkook, you must forget it. You are the eldest son, and you have duties. You and your Gharwali, will attend every event, and you will show respect to Kamlesh and his family. Is that clear?
Jungkook's anger bubbled beneath the surface, his eyes narrowing.
Jk- And if Jung-guk were in my place? Would you still behave like this? (he asked, his voice dangerously low)
Mr. Jeon's anger surged again.
Mr. Jeon- You speak out of line. You're nothing but a disgrace if you cannot follow the wishes of this family.
Dadi-sa gave him a warning glare, clearly signaling that any further protest would be met with consequences.

The room was quiet as Jungkook sat by the window, his face dark and serious.
The heavy events of the day weighed on him. His mind kept going back to Dadi-sa's strict demands and the idea of going to the Kim Haveli—where he would have to face Kamlesh, who had insulted him in front of everyone.
