Chapter 93 - Abandoned.

Florence sighed. Everything she'd wanted in her life had been hurt or torn away. Normal life, didn't seem to exist anymore. "Daniel, I don't know how we're going to solve this one. Mara will kill us, even if we get out, there is risk that other agents will find me, I have messed up our lives so badly." Dan shook his head. "Florence, we will get through this, I can't guarantee we'll be alive at the end but we will try our hardest to be. We can be the optimist. After all, don't the good guys always win?" Florence smirked. "You're right." That's when Mara and Karmin re-entered.

"I want to speak to Florence alone." Mara said. Karmin took Dan out of the room. Florence watched her mother sit down on a step in the corner of the room. She waited a few moments before speaking. "Florence, I abandoned you. Your father knows I'm alive. I sent an agent to live with you, but she failed her mission and you had her arrested. I left you and I left your father because I didn't want to hurt you... because I had fallen in love with Zack and Zack influenced me to be cruel and I couldn't hurt you. So I divorced your father and fell pregnant with Riley. I abandoned you."

Florence pitied her mother. "Why do you want me to stay then? After not being good enough before?"

"Isn't it obvious? We have control. You can help me, we can lead these agents and no-one would be able to hurt you or the children. We could control the good and the bad. You and me together." Mara smiled.

Florence realized how twisted her mother's mind had become. The mental trauma she must have gone through with Zack and Riley, Florence knew what abuse was like but her mother was beyond her help. "But we can't control everything. And my babies need to have a father." Florence reasoned.

Mara frowned. "You grew up without me. Men just ruin things. They'll be okay." Her smiled returned. "Think of all the fun we'll have. You and I, mother and daughter."

The look in her mother's eyes scared her. She was being genuine but she'd lost her mind. "What's wrong?" Mara asked.

"Why would I want to stay here? Mother, I want a normal, safe life without having to run or hide from anyone ever again. I don't want to stay here. I want to live in a house with my husband. Have my kids and do mum stuff with them. And I'd love them. I can't survive here." Florence stayed as calm as she could, fear sent a prickling feeling down her back.

"You'd abandon me?" Her mother laughed. Florence shook her head vigorously, "No, I'd visit you from time to time, I just don't want to do this."

Mara looked hurt. "You have no choice Florence Heathcliff. I will kill you if you try to escape and Dan too if I have to. What I said, will happen. No one will abandon me. You do not need Dan or Nick or any one. It will be you and me. Okay." Her mother seethed and grabbed Florence' by the jaw, she pressed hard until Florence yelped. Dan ran in through the door with Karmin following.

"Don't you dare hurt her." He tried to seize her but Karmin managed to push him to the floor.
