“Don’t listen to your friends, trust that they’re fair, look in there eyes. But don’t go along with a plan to save Dan. That’s what they want you to do!” Nick’s agent friend insisted.

“Don’t listen to my friends? They only care and want to see Dan as well as I do. I can’t just sit around whilst he’s being tortured.” She huffed.

“Nick gave me the job of protecting you all no matter what, you cannot save him. The best thing is for them to escape and run.” He replied bluntly.

“Well you’re just a bag of fun aren’t you?” She smirked and he managed a smile.

“I take my job very seriously Mrs Smith, and you’re very important to Nick, if any harm came to you I would probably be a dead man.” He joked.

“That’s Nicholas for you.” She laughed. The agent looked at her closely. Florence realized he was staring at her, “What?” She said uncomfortably.

“Nick has talked about you a lot…I was just seeing whether some of the things he’s said were true.” He explained. Florence blushed slightly, “Does he talk often of me?”

“Less lately, but you are the person who has kept him sane, he loves you.”

“And I love him but I have Daniel so if we can change the subject please.” She finished just as a nurse came in.

“Mrs Smith…” She started.

“Is Gwen awake?” Florence eagerly asked.

“Not yet no, you have a visitor, he was injured so he’s being treated in the next room.” The nurse directed her to the room. Nick was sat there - a cut on his arm being stitched up - he had a few cuts on his face, he looked up at Florence and his eyes lit up. She ran over to him and hugged him. “What have they done to you?” She whispered looking deep into his eyes. He could have kissed her in that instant, he would have but he turned his head. “I’m fine. Two of us couldn’t escape, he chose to stay back.”

Florence helped the nurse by dabbing the cuts on his face with anti septic soaked cotton balls. He didn’t flinch once, he just stared at her. “You’re looking at me that way again.” Florence said without looking at him.

“I’m sorry.” He averted his eyes to look at the clock on the wall in front of him. Florence felt pity for him. His whole life was spent protecting her and she had cast him aside for someone else. She took a deep breath and assured herself she had made the right decision and kept on treating him.

“I know you can’t help it. That did not mean to sound big headed. But I know and I’m the one who should be sorry. Anyway, how did you find us here?” She finally spoke.
