Kyle smiled at Nick. “She’s fine.”
“Where is she then?” He asked.
"She’s outside, she wanted to be alone but she’s ok.” Kyle said and Nick let out a hearty laugh. “What?” Kyle raised his eyebrows.
“You honestly believe she’s fine. If she wants to be alone, that means she’s gone.” Nick licked his lips quickly and stood up. “I kind of blame this all on you. I’ll see you later.” He patted Kyle on the back.
“I’m coming too.” Kyle demanded. Nick shook his head, “Stay here where it’s safe, that goes for all of you.” He looked around at the band. They all groaned but somehow secretly felt relieved they wouldn’t be dicing with death today.
Nick took a deep breath. He felt uncertain but he knew they would torture Florence and that made his mind up for him. No harm would come to her, he promised. His fingers stroked his gun; he did this because it made him feel safe but mostly because he didn’t want to forget the most important item that could save him.
Nick used the car his Agent friend had come in. Not very subtle but he didn’t care, he just needed to catch up with Florence, hopefully before she got caught.
Meanwhile Florence stopped at the lights and checked the tracker on her phone indicating where Dan was (she’d managed to attach one to Dan’s jeans earlier on). ‘Just a few more turns.’ She thought and rode onwards. Her mind wandered and started to think of what Dan must have suffered, she still believed he’d be better off without her and that thought stuck with her. Whatever happened, Dan needed to be safe even if she died.
Florence blinked the tears from her eyes and kept focused.
Nick placed a police siren on the top of his car, again subtly wasn’t exactly his forte. He sped through traffic and finally had Florence in sight. “Always was a slow rider.” He muttered to himself.
Florence looked in her mirror and rolled her eyes. ‘Typical.’ She smirked and accelerated forward. Nick noticed she had seen him and a grin crept across his face, just like old times. They raced eachother for a short time then turned onto the street they needed. Nick turned the siren off and got out of the car to talk to Florence.
“We are in this together okay, so no running off unless I let you.” He said firmly looking her right in the eyes. She nudged him in the ribs and nodded, “Sure thing Nicholas.”
“You know one of us could get killed?” He looked concerned.
“Yes. Or we could survive it like last time. As long as Daniel is safe, I don’t care what happens.” She didn’t intend on meaning she didn’t care about Nick but she knew he’d be prepared.
