“Good morning Mrs Smith.” He said condescendingly.
“Hello Inspector, you have evidence I suppose.” She felt like punching him too.
“Yes we found that video footage.” They entered the conference room.
“And?”
“Well let’s watch.” He said switching on a small TV.
It was in black and white, she saw herself talking with Gavin and then she pulled her belt off and the rest was unseen. A few moments later she left.
“I didn’t do that, that must be someone else.” Florence demanded.
“This is the time you were visiting.”
“Yes but this must be someone else I didn’t kill him I just wanted to talk to him.”
“You took your belt off and you strangled him.”
“I only talked to him.”
“YOU KILLED HIM!” He raised his voice.
“NO I DIDN’T, I’M INNOCENT!!!” She yelled back.
Inspector Goodwin went quiet and Florence sat there with her head in her hands.
“Look you can confess and serve the minimum or you can keep pleading your innocence which won’t get you anywhere.”
“I have people who can prove my innocence.”
“What your musician husband? I bet he’ll leave you once he knows the truth.”
“He knows I’m innocent and he will try and prove it for however long it takes, he is so much stronger than you!” Florence vented her anger.
“He can’t save you from your sin.”
“He can if I didn’t do it. Is this the part where I ask for a lawyer?” She enquired as a small joke.
Inspector Goodwin bit his lip and turned to an officer. “Put her in a cell.”
Florence was pulled out, “I’ll be free soon, don’t look so happy.” She whispered.
“Oh of course.” He replied smirking, a sudden urge to head butt him was tempting but Florence suppressed the feeling and took deep breaths.
