Nick pulled himself off of the floor and tidied the kitchen up. He didn’t want to let Florence go but he had to, he couldn’t let his feelings get in the way of the mission and the mission was to protect them, he was already breaking the rules.
His phone started to ring.
“Hello Mara.” He said with a sarcastic tone.
*Are they safe?*
“Indeed they are, you know we could get fired.”
*Not if we do this swiftly and out of sight.*
“I doubt that’s going to be easy with Florence, everyone seems to be out to get her.”
*Everyone has their enemies.*
“Did you do it?”
*Do what?*
“Kill him… you said it yourself he didn’t deserve to live.”
*I will speak with you later.*
“Yes ma’am.” He mocked her, and hung up.
Dan walked in. “How’s the old mother in law then?”
“She’s a stubborn lying cow.” Dan laughed when he said this.
“Like mother like daughter.”
Nick nodded in amusement. “Florence is easier to deal with she has weaknesses, her mother is like a rock, cold and no-one can break in.”
“Why don’t you just be tough with her and maybe that will open her up?” Dan echoed Nick’s past words.
“If she has any feelings left in her, the only person who could crack her is Florence.”
“It’d be a sobfest.” Dan joked to keep himself sane and calm. “Anyway, I’m gonna go get a shower.” He said and walked off. Nick heard the water come on and went straight to see Florence. She was doing the same thing, they met in the hall way.
“I need to talk to you.” They both said at the same time. Nick took her into the back room. “What’s going on? This isn’t the flu.” He put his hand on her shoulder.
“Nicholas… I’m pregnant… I did the test five times, I…I’m pregnant.” She didn’t know how to react.
