Florence kept herself occupied until Tuesday came.

Her and Nick had planned their escape route but whether the plan would work was a different thing altogether.

She had the shakes.

“Are you okay?” Nick put his hands on her shoulders.

“I think, just nervous and excited.”

“Everything will be fine, the babies will be fine.”

“Did you say babies?”

“I’m convinced it’s twins.”

“Please, do not say that.”

“Why?”

“Because when you tell me something, it’s usually always right.”

“That’s because I know.” He tapped his nose. Florence sat down feeling faint.

“Come on, we can do this. Mara is taking us with another man. I could easily take him out.”

“But there will be a patrol outside the hospital too.”

“We would have hijacked the ambulance by then. Trust me; I’ll get you through this.”

“Promise?”

“I promise to the ends of the universe and back.” He held her hands and kissed them.

Mara walked in. “You ready?”

“I think so.” Florence tried to smile.

Mara came over and hugged Florence. “I cannot believe my lovely daughter is pregnant, I remember when I was pregnant with you.” Mara started getting a little emotional.

“Please, don’t. The chances of this child surviving are low.”

“These children.” Nick corrected her.

“You don’t know if they’re twins or not so please stop worrying me even more.” Florence shot back, clearly stressed out.
