Dan looked at them. “Err…yes?” He hated knowing Nick was right, Nick was always right.
“Does Florence Smith live here?” One officer asked.
Dan didn’t like lying and he knew they’d search the house anyway so he told the truth. “Yeah, she does. What do you want?”
Florence walked into the room, she had changed back into her normal clothes, she knew they would come.
“Florence Smith you are arrested on charge with the murder of Gavin McFadden, anything you do or say may be used as evidence against you.”
Dan turned and looked at Florence as quick as he could. Now he understood what Nick meant.
“Florence?” Dan’s eyebrows drooped into a disappointed look. She looked away from him.
She held her arms out as another officer placed handcuffs on them.
“A day, are you that desperate?” Florence said looking at the man with the familiar comb over.
“It all leads to you.” He smirked.
“Yeah well I’m innocent.”
“Say goodbye to him.”
Florence turned to Dan. She put her arms over his head and around his neck; the metal of the cuffs was cold and made him shiver.
“I love you.” She whispered.
“Just go.” Dan said coldly. She knew he was angry.
She nodded and the officers led her out once again.
“That was probably your last conversation; he’ll find a new girl.” The man continued.
“Can you just get a life? I don’t want to add assaulting a police officer to my record.” Florence felt like punching him so much but kept under control.
The ride to the police station was uncomfortable. Florence suggested they should have comfier seats but they ignored her.
When she got inside she was met by Inspector Goodwin with a big smile on his face.
