The vent creaked, Mara looked up. “She knows, let’s move quickly.” Nick shuffled forward quickly not caring at how much sound he made. Mara smirked as she heard them moving. Dan stopped at the vent cover, “Nick, find her and keep her safe, I’m staying otherwise one of us won’t make it.” He saluted Nick - who looked kind of shocked - and jumped down in front of Mara.
“Hello Mara. I thought I’d drop in for some tea and a chat.” His blue eyes sad but his face smiling. Mara studied him for a moment before she spoke. “Why are you here?”
“Well, you need Florence, I don’t understand why you need her cause she didn’t shoot Zack but I’d rather not get shot.” He said truthfully.
“Gwen is probably dead now; I just want to talk to Florence.” She said calmly.
“Someone is dead and you’re fine with that?” Dan laughed.
“SHE KILLED HIM!” She raised her voice, losing her cool.
“Because you killed her father…”
“He deserved to die; he was going to kill Florence.”
“Zach was going to kill all of us.” Dan started getting annoyed.
“I wouldn’t have let him, he wasn’t like that.”
“No doubt Gavin was like that too right? He abused you, you think you loved him but you’re wrong, he was a bad person and he would have killed you in the blink of an eye if you betrayed him.” He seethed; Mara struck him across the face.
“How dare you!”
“You know it’s true, you abandoned your family because you were in love with him. Pete wasn’t good enough, Florence wasn’t good enough. For goodness sake you have another daughter you have no idea about, her name is Daisy and she’s just like Florence… you left everything not because he was going to kill Florence but because you loved him… and you were too much of a coward to tell Pete… so you “died”. How dare you!” He didn’t care what she would do to him; he had already been tortured enough.
Mara stayed quiet and led him back to the cell; Karmin had just started to stir as Victor helped her out. “If you try to escape, I will…”
“Kill me? Please, don’t even speak anymore because I know what you’ll say… I’m glad you were out of her life, she grew up so beautifully. You hardly know anything about her.” Dan finished.
Mara knew he was right. She just turned and shut the door behind her. Dan sighed and started singing to himself. “I can feel the draw, I can feel it pulling me back, it’s pulling me back, it’s pulling me, I can feel the draw…”
