New York

Daphne's POV:

"Where the hell have you been? We were worried sick!" Ally questions once I reach the group.

I look at her with a goofy smile.

"I had a breakfast date." I shrug.

"Looks like you had more than breakfast."

"Yeah, dawg, you got fresh scratches on your back." Dinah says pulling my tank top to the side slightly.

Lauren glares at me, Ally crosses her arms and stares me down, and Will, Mani, and Dinah laugh.

"Some of them are from last night. And I did have more than breakfast. I had a reason to celebrate."

"At least New York is being good to someone." Mani chuckles.

"What was your reason to celebrate Daph?"

I look at Will and smile.

"I'm glad you asked. I got a call from my agent this morning. The publisher wants me to do a book tour and sign on for another book." I turn my attention to Ally. "This will be good for me and all of us. It'll get me out of y'all's hair and away from you know who for a long while. I already talked to Mom, Dad, and Kelly. They'll all be with me at some point and I'll keep up my regular sessions with Dr. Davis. They even said y'all could come along if you wanted."

"And what did you say?"

"I said I'd think about it and let them know once I got back to LA. What do you think?"

"I think you can do whatever you want. You're grown."

Ally turns and starts walking away and I sigh and look at Will. He shrugs. I look at the girls and they look helpless.

"Ally, wait!" I run after her.

I wrap my arms around her waist to stop her from moving any further. I pull her over to a bench and sit her down with me but I keep my arms locked around her waist so she can't leave. I look at her but she turns her head away from me.

"Are you mad at me?" I question softly. "Please don't be mad at me Ally."

She sighs deeply.

"I'm not mad at you. I just worry about you. I also don't understand why you seem to want to get away from us so badly."

"Ally, look at me, please." I beg.

She slowly turns her head in my direction meeting my eyes.

"I don't want to get away from y'all. I love living with y'all. I just feel like a burden to y'all and I feel like you need some space from me."

"Baby, you aren't a burden. We absolutely love having you around. And why do you think we need space from you?"

"Cause you're still newlyweds. Y'all don't need me up under you all the time."

"You're not up under us all the time angel. We go and do our own thing and you do the same. But I understand why you might feel that way. So if this is really something you want to do then I'll support you."

I grin like an idiot and lay my head on her shoulder as she wraps her arm around me.

"I love you, Ally."

"I love you too angel. Come on let's get back to the others."

I nod and release her. I stand up and hold out my hand. She takes it and we walk back over to the others.

"Everything good?"

"Yeah, Will, everything is good."

"Good." He smiles and wraps his arm around my shoulders.

"So I gotta know cause I'm nosey but who did you sleep with last night and this morning?"

I chuckle at Dinah's question.

"DJ that's none of your business." Normani smacks her shoulder.

"It's fine Mani. This morning, it was a girl I met yesterday morning, and last night, well, I think you can figure that one out." I glance at Lauren.

Dinah and Mani follow my eyes.

"So where does that leave the two of you?" Mani asks cautiously.

"The same place."

"Maybe if you had stayed to talk we wouldn't be in the same place." Lauren scoffs.

"Oh, please, you weren't interested in talking to me. You got what you wanted from me and immediately hopped on the phone. Until you can be honest with yourself and stop toying with other people's emotions we won't get anywhere."

My words leave Lauren silent.

I move to stand in front of and face Ally and Will.

"Now can we go watch Strangers 2?"

"I'm down." Will says.

"I don't know." Ally says hesitantly.

"I'll make you a deal. If we can go watch it, then Will will go to Victoria's Secret with you." I smile.

"I will not."

"Come on, Will, take one for the team."

"It was your idea, so you go to Victoria's Secret."

I grunt.

"Fine, I'll do it." I look at Ally with my best puppy dog eyes. "Please, Ally?"

She looks at Will.

"Can you really say no to that face?"

Ally pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs.

"Okay, we can go watch the movie."

"Yay!"

I pick her up and spin her around causing her to laugh.

"Okay, put me down now, cupcake."

I gently put her down with a huge smile.

Maybe this trip to New York isn't so bad.
