Chapter 20: Hospital
Colton's POV
*One Month Later*
I was sitting on my bed when someone knocked on my door.
"Come in!" I called. My dad walked in and showed me a forced smile.
"Dad? What's going on."
"Get your shoes on. We need go get to the hospital." He said.
"Hospital? Why?"
"Your uncle Eddie was shot. He's in really bad shape."
"Oh my god." I said, tears filling my eyes.
"Come on, everyone else is already in the car." I nodded and got up, putting my shoes on. I walked downstairs and got in the car, my dad pulling out of the driveway and driving out of our neighborhood. The ride to the hospital was silent, my mom letting out small sobs every now and then. We parked in the parking lot and got out, walking into the hospital and going into the waiting room to find the entire family.
My mom rushed over to her dad and hugged him tightly. My grandpa's face was red and he had tears rolling down his face.
"Go sit down." My dad told my sister and I as he walked over to my mom. Caitlyn and I walked over to where our cousins were and sat down. Eva and Emily were the only ones missing who were probably with our Aunt Liz.
Thirty minutes later, our Aunt Liz walked out with her two kids and started bringing people back. Of course, my grandparents went first since it was their son. Next, my uncle Eli went back with his wife and kids. My dad walked up to me to get Caitlyn and I since my family was next to go see him.
We walked down the hall until we reached our Uncle's room, walking in. My mom let out a gasp and struggled to make it to his hospital bed. She sat down in the chair next to his bed and grabbed his hand, sobbing. I sniffled and blinked, tears falling down my cheeks as I looked at him. I found out that he was trying to catch a criminal and was shot in the process. No vital organs were hit but he lost a lot of blood.
"Camryn, come on." My dad said, trying to get my mom to leave after five minutes. It took about a minute for my dad to finally convince my mom to go back to the waiting room. We sat back down and my dad walked over to us.
"I'll take you guys home in a few hours if you want, okay?" He asked and we nodded. He walked back over to our mom to make an attempt at comforting her. I pulled out my phone and saw ten texts from Jessica and four missed calls. I sighed and walked out of the hospital, calling her.
"Colton!" She exclaimed once she answered.
"H-Hey Jessica." I said.
"Are you crying?" She asked, the enthusiasm draining from her voice.
"My uncle was shot Jessica. I don't know if he's going to survive, do you think you could get a ride to the hospital because I really need some type of comfort."
"Sorry, I don't do well with tragedy and I can't date a guy who cries."
"Excuse me? My uncle might die Jessica!"
"I can't date a p ussy. Sorry Colton, we're over. Goodbye." She said and hung up.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" I yelled and dropped to my knees. Cassie, Amanda and Bryce were all out of town so I couldn't ask them to come to the hospital. There's only one person left. I dialed their number and my heart beat faster with each ring.
"Hello?" I heard a voice I hadn't spoken to in months.
"B-Brayden." I spoke.
"Colton, are you okay?"
"I-I need help." I started to sob.
"Colton, what's going on?"
"C-Can you come to the hospital."
"Oh my god, what's going on."
"Please Brayden! Just please come right now!" I begged.
"O-Okay, I'll be right there." He said and hung up.

Thirty minutes later, Brayden ran up to me.
"Colton, are you okay?" He asked, wrapping me in a tight hug. I just shook my head.
"My Uncle Eddie was shot. He lost a lot of blood and they don't know if he's going to make it." I cried.
"Oh my god Colton, I'm so sorry." He said, hugging me tighter as I cried into his shoulder. I cried for about ten minutes before pulling myself together. "Can I just ask one question?" He asked.
"Yeah?"
"Why'd you call me? I thought you hated me."
"Well, my three friends are out of town and my girlfriend, or should I say ex is a big bitch."
"Really?"
"Yeah, she told me she doesn't want to date a p ussy, that she can't date a guy who cries and broke up with me."
"Shit man, she sounds like a bitch." He laughed and I nodded.
"What about you? I'm surprised you're not hanging out with Sabrina."
"Oh we broke up. Once we were both sobered up after the party, I dumped her ass. And we're staying broken up."
"So, you're not mad at me for what happened at the party?" I asked.
"Nah man, you were drunk and she's a slut." He said, chuckling a little, making me laugh.
"I'm so sorry for the way I treated you." I apologized.
"No, I'm sorry. Bros before hoes." He said.
"I missed you so much Brayden."
"I missed you too." He smiled. "Friends?"
"Brothers." I smiled and hugged him again. We walked into the hospital waiting room and sat down.
