Chapter 9: And We've Got The Whole World Coming After Us

Colton's POV

When I woke up the next morning, my dad reluctantly took me back to the hospital. I don't care what anyone said, I needed to be there for my best friend.

"Colton," I heard Brayden's dad say. I stood up and ran over to him. "Brayden just woke up, do you want to go see him?" I nodded. I followed him down to Brayden's room and his dad opened the door for me. I walked in to see him and his mom talking. I smiled when I saw my best friend sitting up in his hospital bed.

"Colton!" Brayden exclaimed with a smile. I smiled back and ran over to him, hugging him.

"I'm so fucking sorry." I started to cry.

"It's okay, are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine, I'm just glad you're okay. I thought I had killed you."

"You can't get rid of me that easy." He said and we both chuckled.

"Just no more going in the ocean during storms, understand boys?" His mom said.

"Yes ma'am." We both agreed.

*One Week Later*

My parents were taking me over to Brayden's house. He got home yesterday and my parents bought a present for him. We pulled in the driveway and the three were standing outside. My dad pulled out Brayden's new surfboard and handed it to him.

"Here you go Brayden, since your other one got swept away." My dad said.

"Wow! Thank you so much. Colton, wanna go surfing next week?" Brayden asked.

"Nah, I'm quitting surfing." I said, causing everyone to gasp.

Sorry I haven't updated in so long! I was home from Europe for about a week when I went to Houston for the weekend. I just got back and now I have a job! I'm hoping to start updating more!
