Chapter 116

Colton's POV

*A Few Days Later*

I was in school when I got a call from the doctor. My heart sank and I tucked it into my pocket, letting it ring while I continued to take notes. I tried to focus on what was going on in class, but I just couldn't. My mind was too preoccupied with the worst possibilities of my results.

After class, I ran to the bathroom and pulled out my phone. I had one voicemail and I quickly clicked on it, putting the phone to my ear. My heart was beating out of my chest and I started to shake.

"Hello, I'm calling for Colton Longsworth. This is Nurse Jackie from Dr. Kaminsky's office. This is a call to let you know that your test results are in and we urge you to make an appointment as soon as possible so we can discuss them with you. We look forward to seeing you back soon. Goodbye." I heard the click as the message ended and the robotic voice came back giving me options on what to do with the message.

I finished the rest of my classes and then went to work. I clocked in and then walked up to my manager.

"Hey, what's the soonest day you can give me off? I need to make a doctor's appointment."

"I can give you Thursday off, it looks like it might rain."

"Awesome, thank you so much." 

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, just a check-up to make sure everything is okay." I lied.

"Alright, good. I don't want to be losing you anytime soon."

"You won't." I smiled, beginning to work on my tasks for the day.

The next day, in between classes, I made a call to set up an appointment.

"Hello, how can I help you?" A nurse asked as she picked up the phone.

"Hi, I'd like to make an appointment on Thursday with Dr. Kaminsky."

"Let me see if he has anything open." She said and I heard keys being clicked on a computer. "I have an opening for four?"

"That's perfect."

"Alright, what is the name?"

"Colton Longsworth."

"And the reason for your visit?"

"To receive test results." I said. She asked me a few more questions about my insurance and then I hung up, rushing to my next class.

A few days later, I was sitting in the waiting room of the doctor's office, shaking. I was so worried about these results.

"Colton Longsworth." The nurse called. I stood up and followed her to an empty room. I sat on the table, swinging my legs like a child. I wish I was a child again, then I wouldn't have to deal with this shit.

"Hello Colton." My doctor smiled as he walked into the room a few minutes later.

"Hello." I managed to say.

"So, you want to start with small talk or get straight to the results?"

"Results please. I'm a nervous wreck."

"Well, your results came back negative with everything except for Chlamydia."

"Wait, I actually have an STD? But-But I don't even have any symptoms."
