Chapter 138
Andy's POV
*Two Months Later*
"Welcome in!" I said as I greeted my kids, hugging each as they walked into my house. The house finally sold to a family who really deserves it and I'm so excited for them. I move into my new apartment in a week so I decided to throw one last party. It's a mix between a final goodbye to the house and a housewarming for my new apartment since the party would be too big for my apartment.
I got a nice one bedroom and am excited to live in something a lot smaller and start feeling a lot less lonely.
My family and friends partied for hours and I was given a few gifts even though I insisted that no gifts be brought. When the party was almost over, I gathered everyone's attention so I could say a few final words.
"You're all invited today because you have created just as many memories in this house as I have. I lived with both of my wives here for years and raised my family here. I had the worst fights of my life and also my greatest memories. I'm definitely going to miss this house, but I can't take it when I go so I've got to let go sometime. This house is going to a nice young family and I'm excited for them to start their new life here and create new memories. You're all welcome to visit me in my new apartment, just not all of you at once because it's pretty damn small, but it's the perfect size for just me. I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of my life, through all the ups and downs and am grateful for each one of you. Thank you." I said, tearing up, my voice cracking at the end. Everyone applauded, making me smile. Brandon walked up and hugged me before turning to face everyone.
"Dad, thank you for giving me the opportunity to make memories in this wonderful house. I'm going to miss it, but I'll always have the memories right up here." He said, pointing to his head. "I grew up here, going through my rebellious teenage phase, and then eventually maturing into the man you made me. I'll never be able to thank you enough or repay you for everything you've done for me, no matter how hard I try. I'm sorry I made things hard on you when you were trying to do what's best for you. I was being selfish and I understand now how happy this will make you. I love you dad and good luck in the future." He finished and everyone clapped.
"Brandon, I have a surprise for you." I said and he raised an eyebrow. I opened the kitchen pantry and brought out the piece of drywall I had framed. It was the piece from Brandon's room that Harley had painted his name on.
"Dad." He gasped as I presented it to him.
"I know how much this meant to you so I didn't want to stand in your way of having a memory from your mother. She loved you so much Brandon and I love you. I always will, no matter how much I piss you off. I love you son." I said. His eyes filled with tears and he rested it against the TV stand, coming close to me and hugging me tightly. I hugged him back and we stayed like that for about thirty seconds before breaking apart.
"I love you too dad." He said, wiping his eyes.
