Chapter 126: Elijah Chase Longsworth
Caitlyn's POV
*Three Months Later*
"You're doing great Caitlyn! Just a few more pushes!" My doctor exclaimed.
"I can't do this anymore! I-I don't want to!" I cried, looking up at my mom. My mom and grandmother were the only ones I wanted in the delivery room with me.
"It's okay Caitlyn. You can do it, I believe in you. It's almost over." My mom reassured me but it didn't make me feel any better or any more motivated to keep going. I was sweaty, in pain and felt more exposed and uncomfortable than I have in my entire life.
After a few more agonizing minutes, my son finally entered the world. They let my mom cut the cord and plopped the screaming baby on my chest.
"Oh my god, he's beautiful." I cried, stroking the bit of hair on his head. He wailed in my ear but I didn't care, I was just happy to have my baby in my arms. After what felt like two seconds, they picked him back up and placed him in a basket, taking him out of the room.
"Wait! Where are they taking him?" I cried out, stretching my arm out towards the door.
"They're just taking him to the nursery. They're going to weigh him and clean him up and let him rest with the other babies so that you can get some rest." My mom said, rubbing my arm.
"I want my baby."
"You'll get him when you wake up. You need to go to sleep. You just had a twelve hour labor. I'll be right here when you wake up." My mom said. I nodded and my mom lowered my bed from a sitting to a laying position. I closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep.
Camryn's POV
Once Caitlyn, was asleep, my mom and I went back to the waiting room.
"Want to go see your grandson?" I asked Chris and he nodded, grabbing my hand. My mom grabbed my dad and the four of us walked to the nursery. We stood at the large glass window, looking in at all of the sleeping babies.
"Which one do you think he is?" My mom asked.
"That one." Chris said, pointing at the baby in the center who had a blue card taped to his bassinet.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"He looks just like Caitlyn did when she was born." He said with a smile, pressing his face to the glass like a kid looking into a candy shop. Maybe we should have had another baby.
"Excuse me, which baby belongs to Caitlyn Longsworth?" My dad asked a nurse passing by.
"That one in the middle. He's the happiest baby we've had in a while." She said before walking off.
"Told ya so." Chris said with a smirk. "God, he's perfect. I can't believe we're grandparents." He said, looking down at me.
"I know."
"And we're great grandparents." My mom said.
"Hey, this is my dad's first great great grandchild." My dad said.
"Why are we all so old?" I asked and we all laughed. "Anyways, I should probably get back to Caitlyn in case she wakes up and freaks out that I'm not there." I said, giving Chris a quick kiss. "You two should go home and get some rest. We'll call you when Caitlyn is up for visitors."
"Okay, I love you Camryn." My mom said, hugging me.
"I love you too mom." I said, hugging her back and then hugging my dad. We went our separate ways and Chris followed me back to Caitlyn's room.
Caitlyn's POV
When I woke up, the room was completely dark, but I saw the outlines of my parents sleeping in the chairs on the other side of the room. I rubbed my eyes and flipped on the light, making my parents cringe as they were awoken.
"Oh, you're awake." My mom said, opening her eyes and looking at me.
"I want to see my son."
"Okay, let me get a nur-"
"No, I want to see him now." I said, beginning to slide out of the bed, cringing from the pain.
"Caitlyn, hold up. You just gave birth, you can't just get out of bed and walk. Let's wait for a nurse." She said, pushing me back into the bed and pressing the button to call a nurse. A few moments later, a nurse walked in.
"Can I see my son?" Caitlyn asked.
"Let me go see if he's ready to come here." She said, leaving the room. Five minutes later, the nurse came back, pulling a bassinet with my sleeping son laying in it. The nurse picked him up and placed him in my arms.
"Oh my goodness, he's beautiful." I began to cry, staring down at his little face.
"Do you have a name picked out?" The nurse asked and I nodded. She handed a slip of paper to my mom which I figured was the birth certificate.
"Elijah Chase Longsworth."
"You're giving him your last name?" My dad asked.
"That asshole doesn't deserve to pass on his name." I said and my mom shrugged, writing down the name I told her. I signed it and gave it to the nurse.
"Also, I am supposed to let you know that while you were asleep, we grabbed a DNA sample from Elijah like you asked and now all we need is the father to come down and provide a sample."
"Thank you." I said and she nodded before leaving.
"Hi Elijah." I cooed to my son. "We'll get everything sorted out soon, I promise." I said, stroking his cheek.
***
After holding Elijah for a while and letting my parents hold him, I put him back down and picked up my phone. I clicked on Derek's contact and began a new text message.
Caitlyn~ Hey, just wanted to let you know your son was born yesterday...his name is Elijah Chase. Did you want to come see him?
Derek~ It's not mine
Caitlyn~ You also need to come down here to do the DNA test
Derek~ Fine, I'll be there in an hour.
I threw my phone towards the end of the bed and groaned. Why did I have to get pregnant with this asshole?
