Chapter 69: They Told Me To Go To Rehab and I Said Okay

Colton's POV

"I'll see you at the end of the month." My mom said, hugging me. "I'm going to miss you but I'm so proud of you Colton."

"Thanks mom, I'm going to miss you too. I love you."

"I love you too." She smiled, running her fingers through my hair and wiping a tear from her eye.

"You're doing the right thing." My dad said, hugging me.

"Thanks dad." He pulled away and my sister stood there, tears running down her face. I dropped my bag and walked over to her, pulling her close. She wrapped her arms around my body tightly, digging her face into my chest.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered, tears starting to fall from my eyes.

"Thank you for getting help Colton." She cried, hugging me tighter.

"Thank you for bringing me out of this." I said and let go of her, Caitlyn still gripping onto me. She reluctantly let go and wiped her face. There's family therapy a few times a week but I only get it once for my first week to help me get used to everything.

"Come on Colton, it's time to go." A staff member said. I waved goodbye to my family and picked my bag back up. I followed the staff member back, down a few hallways until we reached a room.  "This is your room, your roommate is currently not in here because it is free time right now." He said as he unlocked the door and let me in. It was a light blue room with a large window, letting in lots of sunlight. There was an attached bathroom as well. There was a chest at the end of each bed for our belongings. A nightstand was next to each bed and had a lamp on each. "Put your bag on the bed and sit down." I did as I was told and he unzipped my bag, searching through my belongings.

"I didn't bring anything with me. I came here to get better." I sighed.

"Sorry, just protocol." He said, standing up. "Someone will come back to get you for dinner." He said, standing up and leaving. I sighed and started putting my stuff into the chest at the end of my bed.

"Oh, you must be my new roommate." I heard a voice say. I turned around to see a boy walking over to the other bed.

"I guess so, I'm Colton."

"Daniel." He smiled, sitting down on his bed. I closed my chest and sat down on my bed. "What are you in here for?"

"Drugs, alcohol, sex." I shrugged with a chuckle at the last things. "I was upset because my girlfriend died so I overdosed on her heroin."

"Damn man, I became an alcoholic half a year ago and just started getting into drugs about a month before I got here."

"How long do you have left?"

"Two weeks." He said. "Halfway there."

"Lucky."

"It's actually not that bad here. I mean, sure you have to miss school which sucks because you get behind but most of the people and staff are nice, the food isn't terrible and there's a lot of fun things to do here. Once you get used to it, you might not want to leave." He laughed. "How old are you?"

"Sixteen, you?"

"Sixteen."

"Cool." I nodded.

"Colton, Daniel, dinner." A staff member announced, opening our door. We stood up and walked to the cafeteria, getting in line. We received our trays and sat down at a table.

"I'm just hoping this place is better than juvie."

"You've been to juvie?" He asked with wide eyes.

"Yeah, it was only for four days though. I got a DUI several months ago." I shrugged.

"Wow! What was it liked?"

"It sucked. It was very strict. We had to shower and shit in front of everybody. I'm never going back." I laughed.

"So, who do you live with?"

"My parents and my fifteen year old sister."

"Ah, I'm an only child."

"Oh, that's cool." I said. We talked about our home lives and family until dinner was over. We threw away our trash and went back to our rooms.

"Come on Daniel." A staff member said, opening our door. Derek stood up and waved at me, leaving. I sighed and laid on my bed, bored as hell. Daniel had his 12 step program which I would be starting tomorrow. I got up and went to go take a shower. I got dressed in clean clothes and climbed into bed. Daniel returned and got ready for bed as well.

"Lights out." A voice came over the speaker as the lights shut off. I closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep.
