Chapter 88
Colton's POV
*One Month Later*
I've gone to church with Sarah every Sunday and I have to say, I don't hate it. I love being around Sarah and taking part in something that's really important to her. Her church is also really fun too. The people are nice and the atmosphere is just very friendly. She attends a small church so almost everyone knows my name and says hi to me every week.
I've attended one youth group function with her. We just hung out with the other high schoolers that go to her church and it was really fun. Everyone was really funny and nice.
I don't know if I believe though. I want to, I want to be a believer for Sarah. I've never really looked into religion before this so I'm still learning things. I definitely believe there is something out there though. I don't know if it's the Christian God, but I believe there is a higher power.
Andy's POV
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked as Jessica laid in bed.
"Yes, I'm fine."
"You've had a headache for a week now."
"Andy, I'm not Harley. It's just a headache." She said. All of a sudden, she sprung out of bed and wobbled into the bathroom. Her balance had been bad too but she just attributed it to the headache. I heard retching and walking in to see her vomiting into the toilet. I kneeled down next to her and held her hair back as she emptied the contents of her stomach. Once she was done, she sat down, trying to catch her breath. I picked her up bridal style and carried her out of the bathroom and out of the bedroom.
"Andy, what are you doing?"
"I'm taking you to the hospital." I said, slipping my shoes on.
"I told you I'm fine!"
"Babe! You have a long lasting headache, your balance is bad, you've been tired and you just threw up! I'm taking you to the god damn hospital." I said, grabbing my keys and walking out to the car. I placed her in the passenger seat and went around to the drivers side. I drove to the hospital as quickly as the speed limits would let me.
Once I parked the car, I picked her up again and walked her through the doors of the emergency room. I sat her down in a car and walked up to the front desk.
"My wife needs to be seen. She's had a headache for a weak, she's been unusually tired, she's off balance and she just threw up." I told the nurse behind the window.
"Fill out these." She said, handing me a clipboard. I went back to Jessica and sat down, beginning to fill out the forms. I asked her a few questions that I didn't know, but I knew most. I gave it back to the nurse and waited with Jessica, holding her hand.
"I love you." I whispered.
"I love you too." She said as I rubbed my thumb along the top of her hand.
"Jessica Biersack." The nurse behind the counter said about twenty minutes later. I helped her up and aided her in walking. The nurse opened the door for us and we walked into the room the nurse was in. She instructed Jessica to sit down and I leaned against the wall. The nurse took her blood pressure, getting some information out of Jessica. She printed out a hospital bracelet and clasped it around her wrist.
"Follow me to your room." She said. I helped Jessica up and we walked down the hallway, coming to an empty room. We walked in and Jessica leaned against the bed.
"I'm going to need you to change into this gown and give us a urine sample." She said, placing a gown and cup on the bed. She left, closing the door behind her.
"Do you need help?" I asked.
"I can do it." She said, grabbing the items and walking into the connected bathroom. I sat down in the chair that was in the room and just started praying. I needed her to be okay. I can't lose anymore people.
She walked out about five minutes later, climbing into the bed. She laid down, trying to catch her breath.
There was a knock on the door before a doctor walked in.
"Jessica?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Hi, I just wanted to see how you're feeling and what we can do to help you." She said, closing the door. Jessica explained her symptoms, some I didn't even know she had. The doctor was writing them down and flipping though pages in her folder.
"Okay, so all of these problems seem neurological. I'm going to want to do a neurological examination, a CT scan, and an MRI." She said, putting her folder down. She walked over to Jessica and began the exam. She tested her balance, vision and other things.
"Okay thank you, I'll have a nurse come in to bring you in for your scans." She smiled as she left. A nurse walked in no less than a minute later, carrying a bag of fluid.
"I'm going to inject a dye into your veins to help us see your organs better in the scans." The nurse told her. I held her hand while they did the dye and we waited for about ten minutes until a different nurse walked in.
"I'm going to take you for a CT and MRI scan." He said, unlocking the wheels of her bed. I watched as they wheeled my wife out of the room. I waited in the room until they brought her back in, locking the wheels and walking out. We waited for a few hours until the doctor walked back in.
"Did you get the results?" I asked and she nodded.
"Jessica, I'm so sorry. It appears that you have a brain tumor."
"WHAT!" I screamed.
"Andy, calm down." Jessica said, her voice very monotone.
"Sir, please. We don't know what it is or how serious just yet. We would like to do a biopsy on it to determine what type of tumor it is. It could be benign, but it could also be malignant. We want to schedule the biopsy for Wednesday. It's a very simple procedure. We'll put you either under anesthesia or under a sedative so you're not totally out. We will then insert a needle through your skull and into the tumor. We will remove a piece of the tumor for examination. You should have the results in three days at the most. You will be required a minimum of an overnight stay just so we can watch over you. If further health problems persist, we will have to keep you longer."
"Anything it takes." Jessica said. How was she so okay with this? We set up a time to come in and Jessica was given a list of things to do to prepare. We were able to check out and went out to the car. The ride home was silent and we made it home safely. Jessica got into bed and I followed her.
"How are you so okay with this Jessica?" I asked.
"There's nothing I can do. Whatever happens, happens."
"I can't lose you." I started to cry.
"You're not going to lose me. I'm going to be around for a long time my love." She said, opening her arms. I hugged her tightly, sobbing into her shoulder. "I'm going to be just fine."
"I love you."
"I love you too." She said, rubbing my back.
