Chapter 39: The Poison In Battle
Colton's POV
"Colton." My dad said, shaking me awake. I opened my eyes, the only light coming into my room was the ceiling light.
"What time is it?" I groaned.
"It's three am."
"Why are you waking me up?" I groaned.
"Get up and get dressed. We need to go to the hospital."
"What? Why?" I asked, sitting up in bed. "Is mom okay? Caitlyn?"
"They're fine. It's gramps."
"What!" I exclaimed.
"Get dressed. Meet us at the car." I nodded and threw the covers off, walking over to my closet. I pulled on sweatpants and an old t-shirt, sliding on the closest pair of tennis shoes I could find. I grabbed my phone off the charger and headed downstairs and out to the car where my family already was. I ran my fingers through my hair as I climbed into the car.
We drove to the hospital in silence, but I could hear my mom crying. I have no idea what happened but it must be bad. The silence allowed my mind to wander about what happened. Did he fall? Car crash? Is he going to die? I reached up and wiped away a tear. I wish someone would turn on the radio or stat a conservation to distract me from my thoughts.
We got to the hospital and got out of the car, walking in. We looked around the waiting room before finding the rest of our family.
"Oh my god, is he okay?" My mom asked, rushing up to them.
"He's in surgery." My gram said.
"What happened?" My mom questioned.
"I woke up to him trying to get my attention. He was having a heart attack. He was clutching his chest and couldn't even speak. I called 911 and they rushed him to the hospital. They got him stabilized enough to send him to surgery to put some stents in to try to prevent this from happening again."
"So, he's going to be okay?" My mom asked.
"They're hopeful he will but there's always that risk."
"Oh thank god." She said, collapsing in an empty chair. My dad sat next to her, rubbing her back.
"Why don't you kids try to get some sleep?" My dad suggested and we nodded. I sat down in an empty chair and fell asleep.
BRANDON'S POV
I gripped Alex's hand, chewing on my knuckle of my other hand. I've bee hoping and wishing and praying to every god I know of that my dad will be okay. I've already lost my mom, I'm not ready to lose my dad yet.
"Everything is going to be okay." Alex reassured me, resting her head on my shoulder.
"I'm not ready to lose him yet." I cried.
"You're not going to lose him. He's going to live long enough to see Colton's children."
"Andrew Biersack." Jessica stood up and walked to the doctor.
"Oh god." I said, squeezing her hand tighter.
"Look, he's talking to her out here. If it was bad, he would have taken her into another room." She said. "Ow! Now I know how you felt when our kids were born." She chuckled.
"Brandon, Blade, come here." Jessica said. I stood up and walked over. Bailey is on tour so we haven't informed her yet. "He's okay and is in a recovery room. They said the surgery was successful and they expect him to make a full recovery."
