Chapter 44

Colton's POV

*One Month Later*

I have a job and a car. I feel accomplished. Jennifer and I are still together and we're hanging out less at her house and more in my car. On rare occasions, like today, we're at her house. I was laying next to her, our clothes piled on the floor like normal.

"Jennifer! Your father is here!" Her mom called.

"What!" She freaked out, jumping up and pulling on her clothes. I sat up and just watched her, not knowing what she was freaking out about. "Get out." She told me.

"What?"

"Get out! My father can't know about you, especially that we're doing this." She said, gesturing to my naked body under her covers.

"I thought you said he wasn't in your life?" I questioned, getting up and pulling on my boxers.

"He's not usually. He likes to pop up and control me every now and then." Suddenly we heard the front door slam.

"Out, out, out." She said, pushing me to her window.

"What? It's a long way down."

"Get. Out."

"Are you going to be okay?" I questioned as she opened the window.

"I'm going to be fine. Now leave, quickly." She said as we hard footsteps on the stairs. I quickly climbed onto the roof and Jennifer shut her window and curtains. I carefully but quickly climbed down and luckily, her father wasn't blocking me in. I got into my car and drove home. I put on my clothes before going into my house.

"Colton? You're home early."

"Yeah, Jennifer had to go somewhere with her mom so I just came home." I said, heading up the stairs.

I stared at my phone, waiting for a response from Jennifer. I left her house three hours ago and she hasn't texted me back. I'm starting to get worried. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I unlocked it and saw it was a text from her. I smiled and opened it.

Jenn<3~ Sorry it took so long. My father is an ass.

Colton~ r u ok? I was worried.

J~ I'm fine, my father doesn't beat me or anything if ur worried about that.

C~ Ok, good....I love you

J~ I love you too :)
