Chapter 26: Summer

Colton's POV

*Two Months Later*

"Colton, can you come here?" My mom called. I got out of my bed and walked down the stairs.

"Yes?" I asked, walking into the kitchen.

"Your father and I were talking," She said, gesturing to my dad, "and we thought it would be a good idea if we did a big end of school party at the bea-"

"YES!" I exclaimed, cutting her off.

"Let me finish. We could invite all the family, invite all your friends."

"I already said yes mom!"

"Okay, after school we'll pick up your friends and go to the beach. We just need addresses."

"Got it." I said and rushed upstairs. I texted my friends and got their addresses, sending them to my mom.

*The Next Day*

I got off the bus after school and sprinted to my house, running in and upstairs to my room. I pulled out my wet suit and stripped off my clothes, pulling the wet suit on. I ran downstairs to see my parents sitting on the couch.

"Let's go!" I exclaimed.

"Calm down Colton." My dad said, standing up. I ran out of the house and opened the garage, pulling out my surfboard and carrying it to the car. I started pulling on the hand;e to open up the back but it was locked.

"DAD!" I yelled, tugging on the handle.

"You're going to break the damn car!" My dad yelled as I heard the car unlock. I lifted up the hatch and slid my surfboard in, closing it.

"LET'S GO!" I exclaimed, climbing into the car.

"Caitlyn, get out here before your brother explodes." I heard my dad say as my mom walked out. Soon, my dad and sister joined us. We pulled out of the driveway and drove to Brayden's house. I jumped out and helped him load his surfboard into the back. We climbed into the car and headed to Cassie's house next. We picked her up and then drove to Amanda's and finally Bryce's house.

We arrived at the beach and all piled out of the car. Brayden and I grabbed our surfboards, sprinting across the sand and dashing into the water. We rode a few waves before returning to the shore.

"Cassie, come here! I want to teach you how to surf!" I said.

"Oh no, my balance is really bad."

"Come on, falling on water doesn't hurt. I'll teach you the basics on land."

"Alright." She sighed. I put my surfboard down on the sand and looked at her.

"Okay, lay down on the surfboard." I said.

"What?" She asked.

"Lay down." I repeated. She got down on the ground and laid down on the surfboard. "Make it so just your feet are hanging off." I said and she re positioned herself. I got down and grabbed the leash, securing it around her ankle.

"Tight but comfortable?" I asked.

"Yeah." She said.

"Okay, now line yourself up with the middle of the board." I said as she started to move around. I adjusted her a little bit and then stood in front of her. "Okay, now practice paddling." I said as I started swimming in the air.

"Colton, I'm not doing that. I'm going to look stupid."

"Cassie, please." She sighed and started weakly paddling. "You're not getting anywhere with that stroke. Paddle like you mean it." I said, causing her to giggle. She started paddling in the air and then stopped after a few seconds.
