Chapter 34: Jennifer
COLTON'S POV
I was at my locker when I saw a girl at her locker struggling with the lock. I had never seen her before so I assumed she was new.
"Do you need help?" I asked. She picked her head up and looked at me.
"Yeah, my stupid locker won't open."
"Whats your combo?" I asked. She told me as I plugged it in. I tugged on the handle and it popped open.
"Wow you're magic." She said and I slightly chuckled. "Thank you so much."
"No problem." I said. "Are you new?"
"Yeah, just moved here from Michigan."
"Wow, that's far."
"Yeah, my parents divorced so my mom moved us out here."
"Wow, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. My dad is an asshole."
"Ah, okay." I said. "Well, welcome to California. I'm Colton." I said, holding out my hand.
"I'm Jennifer." She said, shaking my hand. She was beautiful. She had long black hair and bright green eyes that popped against her pale skin and black eyeliner.
"Let me see your schedule," I said and she handed me the piece of paper. "Looks like we have history, art and lunch together."
"Cool, at least I wont be totally alone." She said.
"Hey, do you want to trade numbers, just in case you need any homework help or help with adjusting to the school, or just want to talk to someone?"
"Sure." She said, pulling out her phone. We swapped phones and I put my number into her phone, handing it back to her.
"I can walk you to your first class."
"That'd be great, thank you." She smiled. I walked her to her class and then rushed to my german class. I ran in just as the bell rang.
"Woah, have trouble waking up?" Bryce asked as I sat next to him, gasping for air.
"No, I met as new girl this morning and I walked her to class, all the way on the other side of the building."
"Woah man, was she hot?"
"Would I have walked her to class if she wasn't?" I chuckled.
"True." He said and we high fived.
"Colton, Bryce, do you guys want to teach?"
"No, sorry." We said.
***
I walked into my art class and sat in my normal seat at the table with Cassie and Amanda. I kept my eyes on the door, watching for Jennifer to walk in. I saw her walk in and I smiled.
"Jennifer! Over here!" I called, pulling out the empty chair. She smiled and walked over, sitting next to me. "Cassie, Amanda, this is Jennifer, she's new. Jennifer, these are my best friends, Cassie and Amanda."
"Nice to meet you." Cassie and Amanda smiled at her.
"Nice to meet you guys too." Jennifer said. We spent the entire class talking while we worked on our assignments. Art class ended and it was time to go to the next class.
"See you at lunch Amanda." I said as Cassie, Jennifer and I walked in the opposite direction.
"Cassie, Jennifer has history with us."
"Oh, cool." Cassie smiled. We made it to our history class and we sat down in our normal seats while Jennifer went to talk to the teacher. The teacher pointed to an empty seat across the classroom and I felt a sadness washing over me. I wish she was sitting next to me.
After history, it was lunchtime. The three of us walked to the cafeteria, got some food and sat at our normal table. Our friends joined us a few minutes later and a smile spread across Brayden's face.
"Brayden, this is Jen-"
"Jennifer, I know. She's in my chemistry class."
"Oh yeah!" Jennifer said. All of a sudden, I felt a pang of jealousy when I saw that smile on Brayden's face.
"The only person you haven't met is Bryce, I'm sure you'll have a class with him." I said.
"Yeah, maybe." She said.
