Chapter 87: Communion

Colton's POV

*One Week Later*

I ended up going to church with Sarah again and it was the same set up. We sang some songs, said some prayers, read from the Bible and heard the pastor's sermon. Only, after they took offering and prayed for the church, the pastor took a piece of cloth off a stack of gold bowls and cups.

"When we get up to the altar for communion, just cross your arms across your chest." Sarah told me. I nodded as the pastor started praying. People were taken pew by pew to the altar and kneeled down.

A man told our row to stand up and we did, walking out into the aisle and getting in line. We were allowed to walk up to the altar and everyone bowed before kneeling down. Sarah looked at me and I crossed my arms over my chest. She cupped her hands as one of the pastors came by, placing a thin disc in her hands. He skipped me and kept walking. She popped the disc in her mouth as a man in a white robe came by with a tray of small cups. Sarah took one that was filled with red liquid and drank it. The other pastor came by, stopping at small children, placing his hand on their heads and praying over them.

The pastor noticed my arms were crossed and he placed his hand on my head, blessing me before moving on. A kid walked by with a basket and Sarah placed her empty cup in the basket.

We returned to our seats as everyone continued to take communion until everyone was done. After that, everything became normal again. After church ended, they drove me home again.

"Thank you again for coming." Sarah said as we reached my front door.

"It was no problem." I said. She leaned in and kissed me and I kissed back.

"I love you so much." She said with a smile.

"I love you too." I said, kissing her one more time. We pulled apart and she started walking backwards.

"See you tomorrow?"

"See you tomorrow." I smiled, opening my door. She walked back to her parents car and I walked into my house.
