Chapter 76
Colton's POV
*One Month Later*
Things have been getting better. I'm getting closer with Sarah and Daniel but my old friends have still not tried to patch things up with me. I've tried approaching them a few times but they just move away. Brayden keeps looking at me during class, acting like he wants to come up and talk to me but he never does.
I haven't made a move on Sarah yet because I want to take things slow with her and I don't want her to end up like the others. I really like her. She's smart and funny and beautiful. She's straight edge and I feel like we would be great together.
I was sitting on my bed when my phone buzzed. I picked it up and saw a text from Brayden.
Brayden~ Hi
Colton~ Hi?
B~ Can you meet me at the park
C~ Sure
I put my phone into my pocket and put my shoes on. I walked down the stairs and grabbed my jacket, putting it on.
"I'm going for a walk!" I called and walked out of the house. I walked down the street so see Brayden on a bench at the park. I stuffed my hands into my jacket pockets and sat down on the bench next to him. I looked down at the ground, playing with the lint in my pockets. Brayden looked over at me and then looked back at the ground.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi." I said. We sat in awkward silence for a moment more before he raised his head and looked at me.
"I'm sorry." We said at the same time.
"Wait, why are you sorry?" I asked.
"I abandoned you in your time of need. You were going off the deep end fast and I just got scared."
"I know, I'm sorry. I'm really ashamed of what I've become in the past few years. Going to rehab definitely helped me see things different and helped in my recovery. I even made a new friend out of it." I shrugged.
"Oh yeah, I've seen you hanging out with a girl and a guy." He said.
"Yeah, Daniel and Sarah. Daniel was my roommate in rehab and Sarah was in my English class. Somehow I've never seen her before but she's lived here all her life." I shrugged with a small laugh.
"That's cool." He said. "Do you think we could try to patch things up between us?"
"Definitely! You're still my brother dude, no matter what."
"I'm glad to hear that." He smiled.
"Do you think anyone else would be willing to patch things up with me?" I asked nervously.
"I'm sure Bryce is willing, the girls might take some more convincing. I think they'll all eventually come around though."
"Oh god, I really fucked up, didn't I?" I groaned.
"Yeah." He laughed. "I'll talk to them about it, okay?"
"Thank you."
"No problem. I need to get back home now." He said, standing up.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah." He smiled and we hugged before saying goodbye and walking off. I got back home and walked upstairs with a smile on my face.
*The Next Day*
Brayden~ Hey, meet me at the park
I walked out of the house and went to the park to see Brayden with my old group of friends. I gulped and walked closer to them.
"Hi." I said.
Cassie and Amanda looked at me with their hands on their hips and Bryce had his arms crossed over his chest. They did not look happy to see me. Brayden stood to the side of him, hands in his pockets, biting his lip.
"What did you tell them?" I asked Brayden.
"I just told them you want to patch things up with them." He said. I nodded and took a deep breath.
"Okay, first of all, I just want to say I'm so fucking sorry. I was so fucking stupid."
"You bet you were." Cassie cut me off.
"I've honestly grown up a lot in the past two months. It sounds stupid but I don't care. I know, I did horrible things and I went way off of the deep end and that's not who I am anymore. I'm completely straight edge and I'm done with those horrible influences. The girl I was dating, Bella, killed herself a few months ago and I lost it. After her funeral I was allowed to go to her house and I stole her heroin and overdosed. I was put in the hospital and then was sent to a month long rehab program. That program helped me out a lot. I realized I didn't love Bella. I loved what she offered me; drugs, alcohol and her body. I got lost in all that stuff and lost myself."
"Oh my god." Amanda gasped, covering her mouth. Bryce had now dropped his arms to his sides but Cassie still looked pretty pissed.
"I don't expect you guys to forgive me right away and we go back to the way things were. I expect to have to work for your trust back. I just ask that you guys do work on accepting me as a friend again."
"Yeah Colton." Bryce said.
"I guess." Amanda shrugged. Cassie stayed quiet and Amanda elbowed her.
"Fine." She grumbled.
"Thank you guys so much! I promise you won't regret this!"
Caitlyn's POV
I was cuddling with Josh in his bed. I've really fallen hard for him and I'm starting to feel love towards him. He's just so nice and kind towards me.
He tilted my head up towards him and kissed me. I kissed him back and he pulled me closer to his body. We started to make out and he slipped his hands under my shirt. I quickly grabbed his hands and pushed him away.
"I-I'm sorry, I-I'm just not ready." I told him.
"It's okay babe, I understand." He smiled, rubbing my hip and kissing my forehead.
