Chapter 31: We Both Lay Here Broken

Colton's POV

*The Next Day*

I was laying on my bed, my music playing, when I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in!" I called, pausing my music. The door opened and Cassie walked in. "Oh, hi." I said, sitting up.

"Hey." She said, walking further in and sitting next to me on my bed. "I brought you your assignments." She said, dropping her backpack to the ground and zipping it open. She pulled out a folder and handed it to me. "Everything you missed is in there. If you need any help, text one of us." She said. I opened the folder and started looking through it. I pulled out a worksheet that was from Chemistry.

"Holy shit, what the fuck." I said, looking at it with wide eyes.

"Yeah, we learned new concepts." She said.

"I'm going to fail Sophomore year." I groaned.

"You're not going to fail. One, it's only like the third or fourth week of school. Two, we're all going to help you."

"I'm going to be out for two weeks! I fucking hate that kid." I groaned.

"It's going to be fine, I promise you. Just take a few deep breaths and text someone if you need help with any of this. Give me your phone." I shrugged and grabbed my phone off my nightstand and handed it to her. She pulled out her binder and flipped to her Chemistry section. She snapped a few pictures of her notes, did the same thing with her Geometry and World History notes and handed it back to me.

"There, now you have notes to do your homework with. If you still don't understand, skype us, text us, call us. Ask the others for notes. We will not let you fail Colton." She said as we heard a car honk. "I really need to get going, but you'll be fine, I promise. Someone will be by tomorrow to drop off more work." She said, standing up and heading toward my door.

"Cassie, wait!" I exclaimed. She turned around as I got out of bed. I walked over to her and hugged her tightly. "Thank you so much."

"No problem Colton. You got a concussion and suspended from school because you were defending me. It's the least I can do to repay you."

"You don't have to repay me. I care about you and I don't believe in hitting girls. That's just wrong."

"I care about you too Colton, which is why I'm doing this for you. We all care about you, that is why we are going to help you. Goodbye." She said and left. I closed my door and sat back on my bed, turning my music back on.

"Colton." My dad said, walking into my room and closing the door behind him.

"Yeah?" I asked, pausing my music again.

"So, Cassie?" He asked with a smirk.

"What about her? She brought me my work." I said, holding up the folder.

"You care for each other?" He teased.

"Yes, we care for each other. We are friends. I care for Bryce, I care for Amanda, I care for Brayden and I care for Cassie."

"You like her, don't you?"

"I do not like her. I mean, I do, but as a friend."

"Colton."

"I'm serious dad. She's just a friend."

"Ooookayyy." He sang as he walked out of my room. I rolled my eyes and turned my music back on.
