Chapter 71: Family

Colton's POV

*One Week Later*

I returned to my room after my grief counseling session, only to have a staff member walk in five minutes later.

"Colton, it's time for family therapy."

"Oh yeah!" I exclaimed, standing up and following him out of the room. I was led down a few hallways until I reached a room where my parents and sister were sitting with a therapist.

My mom saw me and clasped her hand over her mouth, tears pouring from her eyes. My sister got up and ran to me, hugging me tightly. I hugged her back, stroking her hair. She finally pulled away and looked up at me.

"I missed you so much." She cried.

"I missed you too." I smiled, pushing her hair out of her face. She hugged me again before returning to her seat. I hugged my mom next and then my dad. I sat down in the empty chair and turned to look at the therapist.

"I'm just here to monitor. Talk amongst yourselves."

"How are things at home?" I asked.

"Same old, how are things here?" My mom asked.

"I really like it a lot and it's helping." I smiled.

"You look better." My dad said and I nodded.

"I'm happier. I'm surrounded by good people who all have the same goal as me which is great. I've even made friends with my roommate. With my grief counseling sessions and all my therapy sessions, I've come to the conclusion that I never truly loved Bella. I loved the idea of her. Sure, she was a good friend but I was not in love with her. I was in love with the sex, the drugs, the alcohol, the cigarettes, everything that came with Bella. Yeah, her death was sad as any death is but I wasn't going to spend the rest of my life with her. We were never going to get married or have kids."

"Well I'm glad you came to that realization." My mom smiled.

"I just want to tell you guys I'm sorry for everything I've put you guys through for the last couple of years. From when I first started dating those terrible girls to putting myself in the hospital."

"All that matters is you're getting better and realizing what you've been doing is wrong." My dad said as my mom placed her hand on top of mine.

"I love you guys so much."

"We love you too." My mom smiled.

"Colton, it's time to return back to your room." A staff member said, peeking his head into the room. I sighed and looked at my family to see tears in my mom's and sister's eyes.

"I love you guys and I'll see you next time." I said, hugging my mom. She squeezed me tightly for a moment before letting go. I hugged my dad and last was Caitlyn. She hugged me tighter than ever and held onto me for longer as well. I kissed the top of her head, rubbing her back as she cried.

"I love you Caitlyn and I'll see you later in the week."

"I just want you to come home." She cried.

"I know, but I'm her to get better. I only have three weeks left." She let go and wiped her face. I waved to them as I followed the staff member back to my room.

*One Week Later*

"I can't believe you're leaving." I sighed, watching as Daniel packed his stuff.

"I know, but I'll see you when you get out." We found out we go to the same school which is good that we can continue to hang out. I'll need a friend because I have a feeling I won't get my old friends back which sucks but it's just one of the consequences I have to deal with.

"I know, but now I have to get a new roommate and I don't want to."

"It'll be fine. I didn't want a new roommate either but look at us." He smiled.

"I know. I'll see you later." I said, standing up. He came over and bro hugged me.

"Goodbye Colton."

"Bye Daniel." I sighed as he walked out of the room with a staff member.

Two weeks left. I can do this.
