Chapter 83
Colton's POV
I was driving Sarah home after our date when she turned down the radio.
"What are you passionate about?" She asked.
"What?"
"You've got to be passionate about something. I'm passionate about being a future teacher. What about you?"
"Well, I used to be a really good surfer, I even entered competitions and won. I haven't surfed in a few years because it took too much time away from my ex-girlfriends."
"I would love to see you surf." She smiled.
"We can go to the beach tomorrow if you're free?"
"Sounds good." She smiled.
"Awesome." I said as I pulled into her driveway. I walked her up to the door, told her goodnight and then went home.

I loaded my surfboard into the car, dust flying back into my face. I closed the door and adjusted my wet suit. It felt so weird to be wearing it again after so long. I got into the car and drove to Sarah's house. She got into the car and I drove us to the beach. I parked and we grabbed our stuff, finding an empty spot on the sand and setting our things down.
I waxed my surfboard while Sarah stripped out of her clothes, leaving her in a white, one-piece bathing suit.
"I'm going to suck." I laughed as I went out to the water. I laid down on my surfboard and paddled out, the water bobbing me around. I saw a wave coming so I stood and quickly lost my balance and fell off. Once I emerged from the water, I looked at the shore to see Sarah giggling.
After about five tries, I was finally able to remain balanced but quickly fell as soon as the wave hit me. I spent a good thirty minutes trying to learn how to surf again, getting more and more frustrated with each fall. The more I got frustrated, the more I was determined to get it right.
Finally, I successfully surfed a wave, fist pumping the air once I got my head out from under the water.
I did it a few more times, a few successes and a few failed attempts. I eventually returned back to the sand and hugged Sarah. I pulled away and did a little happy dance.
"I can surf again." I laughed. I ran back to the water and surfed for about thirty more minutes. I returned to Sarah again, who was laying on a towel.
"Let me teach you."
"What?"
"Let me teach you to surf."
"Oh, I don't know how." She said, sitting up.
"That's why I'm going to teach you."
"Colton!" She whined.
"Sarah." I mocked her.
"Fine." She grumbled, standing up. I grabbed my surfboard and moved to an empty spot in the sand. I put my surfboard down and started showing her the movements. While I was teaching her, my mind flashed back to when I taught Cassie three years ago. I had such a huge crush on her. I knew she would never like me back so I moved on. I'm happy with Sarah though. It's definitely a healthy relationship which is good considering the bad luck I've had recently.
"You ready to get into the water?" I asked.
"I can try." She shrugged. I led her out to the water and she climbed onto my board. She started paddling out and when she tried to stand up, she fell. After a few times, she was able to catch a small wave before falling.
"Alright, I think that's enough for today." I chuckled, grabbing my board. I placed it by our stuff and we played in the ocean for a while before heading home. I parked in her driveway and she grabbed my hand, looking at me.
"I want you to enter a competition." She said.
"What?"
"Enter a contest. I can tell you really love to surf and you said how good you used to be."
"You saw how bad I was."
"After not surfing for two years, I think that was pretty good. It's still summer. Practice while you have time. I want you to enter a competition before school starts again. Please."
"Okay." I smiled. I walked her up to her door and hugged her goodnight before heading home.
