'Wild.' The word rung in my head on the taxi ride to the studio. 'You drive me wild.' It just sounded so perfect. I thought about it over and over again, it was so extremely distinct to me. The way Connor said it was beautiful. The way he worded it. He didn't say "I'm wild for you", he didn't say "You're wild", he said "You drive me wild." As if it were an effect to the cause, because of you, I'm wild. I fell in love with the phrase, and it was the perfect phrase to direct towards Connor. Though I already dedicated a partial part of a song to him, I wanted to dedicate an entire song to him, and this was it.
When I entered the studio, I quickly ran to Tom, who was sitting behind the desk, as usual. I checked in and walk-ran to the elevator.
When I got into my room with the recording booth, I saw that Emma was already there. "Hi Troye." She greeted me with a smile. I smiled back and said hi, panting from running to the elevator and pacing down to the room. "Are you okay?" She asked me. "Yeah, I was just running."
"Why?"
"I have an idea for another song, and potentially the name of the entire album."
"Really? That's a big deal, you know."
"Yes, I know, and I think I have a great idea."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I've never been more sure." I was still panting as I was talking. "Okay, let me hear it."
"Wild."
It was at that moment where I told Emma about everything. I told her about my feelings for Connor. I told her about the night that Connor came out. I told her about Connor and I kissing for the first time at the airport. I told her about the beanie. I told her about the Netflix and Indian food night. I told her about Tyler. I told her everything.
"Wow." Emma said to me. "Yeah, I have such strong feelings for Connor, and I really want to express them through this album."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. I don't really talk about my personal life, and especially my love life, in my videos, so I really want to have a personal connection to this album."
"I understand. Let's get to work then."
"Let's do it."
I had trouble getting started with he song at first, but once I started thinking about Connor and how he made me feel, the words just flowed out of me and into my notebook. One of the lines in the song was, "Leave this blue neighborhood, never knew loving could hurt this good." I was trying to refer to my home as the "blue neighborhood". I was trying to get the message across that I left my home, and the love I found from someone other than my family was beautiful.
I figured out everything about the song, except one part. I wanted to say "WI-I-I-ILD" in the song, but it sounded weird when I said it. I explained to Emma that there had to be another way to record that one part, and she told me that when the producer came, he would probably know what to do.
Emma and I sat around in silence for the next hour or so until my producer walked in with his kids. "Troye, Emma, hi, sorry I had to bring my kids along, I hope you don't mind." I smiled. "It's okay." I said back. I said hi to the kids and learned all of their names. One of them asked, "Can I see what's written in your notebook?" I nodded and handed them it to read. Once I gave her the notebook, I went over to the producer to talk to him. "Hey," I began to speak, "So there's this one part of my song that I need help on." We talked for a bit about what we could potentially do about that part of the song until I heard one of the kids sing the verse. "WI-I-I-ILD!" She sang. "That's it." I said out loud to myself, still facing Emma and the producer. Everyone was confused, except for me.
My face was glowing as I walked over to the kids. I crouched down beside them and began to speak, "Hey guys, how would you like to be in one of my songs?"
