The cake we bought was amazing, but in other news, I decided to go back to Australia with Troye. This time though, I was going with him purely to really get to know his family. I'd already met Troye's family before, but never in depth. I wanted a closer connection with them.
I honestly could not believe I was just casually taking a trip across the globe.
Since the trip was pretty unexpected, Troye and I began to pack immediately. Our flight was at midnight, so we had about an hour to pack, and then an hour and a half to get to the airport so we would have enough time for all of the other airport-y things.
Before we knew it, the two of us were in Australia.
Troye's mom, Laurelle, picked the two of us up. It was nearly seven, and the sun was just the right amount of set. The sky was lava, mixed with soup and cotton candy clouds. Laurelle, Troye, and I spoke the whole way back to Troye's house. There was not a single moment of silence, she was so easy to talk to. As we drove, we decided to put the radio on. Memories flashed back as Troye's voice sung out of the speakers in the car. Before the three of us started freaking out, Troye asked his mom, "Can we?" She smiled, nodding in approval. "Of course." The three of us proceeded to roll down all of the windows in the car and turn the radio volume all the way up. Iconic.
The car ride was pretty short so we were back at Troye's house around eightish, and I was starving. Luckily, Troye's dad, Shaun, had ordered pizza, so it was all good. The whole family was home except for Steele. Sage even had a few friends over. Other than that, the first thing I saw when I walked into Troye's house was Tyde zooming by on his new hover-board.
I put all of my stuff in the guest room. Troye brought me a bunch of blankets and pillows for the bed and helped me unpack. After we were done unpacking my things, we went to the living room.
The whole family, including Sage's three friends, sat down in the living room with Troye and I. We all chatted for a while until the doorbell rung. "I'll get it." Tyde said as he jumped on his hover-board and went towards the door. Not gonna lie the things this boy could do on the hover-board were pretty impressive.
We were all going to transition into the kitchen to eat, but then someone turned on the TV, and now no one was going to move. I was full after two slices of pizza, and Troye was full after only one, so we just sat and watched TV for a while. Sage and her friends were talking to each other, and so were Shaun and Laurelle. Tyde came by on the hover-board holding a full box of pizza and offered it to everyone sitting on the couches. Troye laughed as he watched him. "Tyde, you've been on that hover-board for so long, get off!"
"No! It's so fun to ride on." We all laughed. "Connor, do you wanna try to ride it?" Tyde asked me as I was taking a sip from my glass of water. I shook my head as I held the cup of water up to my mouth. I then lowered the glass and responded, "I'm good." Troye smirked at me and looked at Tyde. "I'll try riding it."
Troye was so shaky at first while riding it. I had to stop him from crashing into me multiple times, since I was trying to help. When Troye was quite a distance away, I called his name. "Troye!" He looked up at me. I pretended to lasso him closer to me and he played along. He came closer foot by foot on the hover-board until he got all the way to me. I high-fived him and we both laughed a little, which led to Troye getting a little out of balance. I ran up to him and grabbed him on the waist to stop him from falling over. We both laughed hysterically. I helped Troye off of the board and planted a kiss on his forehead, which caused all of Sage's friends, including Sage, to say "Aww." Little did I know, someone was recording.
I'm just glad Snapchat has a ten second limit.
The Mellets and I played around on the hover-board for a bit longer until Laurelle had the idea of karaoke. "It'll be so fun!" She explained. "I can't sing haha.." I said a little nervously. "Neither can I." Tyde said raising his hand. He was looking intently at something on his phone as he spoke. "Here." Sage said, "I'll sing first." One of Sage's friends sang with her as well, after she sang, Tyde sang, and by the way, Tyde actually can sing, then Laurelle and Shaun, then the other two of Sage's friends, then Troye.
Troye began, angelically. "For you I was a flame." Troye and I made eye contact. "Love is a losing game." I laughed, because he wasn't smiling at me, he was just staring at me seriously while singing. Laurelle started clapping along and soon everyone else joined her. "Five story fire as you came, love is a losing game." I joined in on the clapping.
"One I wish I never played,
oh what a mess we made,
and now the final frame,
love is a losing game."
Troye began to walk over to me. 'Don't you dare, Mellet.'
"Played out by the band, love is a losing hand." Troye reached out his hand towards me. "Hell no." I said a little loud, but in a friendly manner. I didn't have much of a choice though, Troye pulled me off of the couch to dance with him. "More than I could stand, love is a losing hand." Troye sang as he pulled me towards the center of the living room. "Self professed... profound." Troye spun me around. I laughed. "Till the chips were down." We both stopped, facing each other, holding hands. "..know you're a gambling man, love is a losing hand." He spun us closer together.
"Though I battle blind,
love is a fate resigned,
memories mar my mind,
love is a fate resigned."
I was actually enjoying this.
"Over futile odds,
and laughed at by the gods,
and now the final frame-" Troye stopped. There was one more line. 'What is he doing?' Troye held the microphone up to my mouth. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, all while smiling. "Love, is a losing game." I sang. My words rang through the house until the echoes were covered up by the applauding.
Troye and I both took bows as we looked at our small audience that projected happiness in all directions. Laughing, Troye and I looked at each other again.
His eyes were like the ocean, and I was drowning.
But I really didn't want to be saved.
