Chapter Nineteen

Present

Ignoscency

When I was in 6th grade, I broke my leg when I got pushed by a junior down the stairs, accusing me of stealing his boyfriend.

As if it wasn't enough, Kuya Luke and his friends beat the sht out of the guy for spreading rumors about us. Just as Uncle was like my father, his sons were like my brothers.

Who wouldn't want a cousin like them, right? Pero ayoko na ng gulo kaya ngayon, I chose to keep quiet. Besides, Denzel was a piece of cake. I could handle him.

"Ags." Her hands were trembling, her head lowered.

I held her hands tightly and reassured her. "Your secret's safe with me, no worries."

She just nodded. "But he really didn't..."

She shook her head. "He didn't."

I sighed. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Of all people, bakit si Denzel pa? Kahit sabihin ni Dyma na hindi 'yun rape, he still took advantage of her. It was entirely possible that Dyma just let herself believe that she liked it.

Habang naglalakad ako papuntang cafeteria, I bumped into someone. I looked up and Apa was looking at me, concerned. "You okay?" I just nodded and continued walking. I didn't look back.

From Denzel and Dyma, nag shift bigla yung utak ko kila Apa at Cua. The night I saw them playing soccer, I walked away as soon as possible. Ayokong makita nila akong pinapanood sila at ayoko rin silang makitang magkasama. Ultimately, I didn't want to see Sean.

But destiny must really loved me, because the last person I wanted to see was already in front of me, wearing a white coat and stethoscope. Sean was years older than me. He was already a physician when we met. He looked younger than his age, though.

"Am I dreaming?" I asked myself.

Sean grinned and pinched my cheek as he stepped closer. "No, Lightning. You're not dreaming."

I closed my eyes. "Oh my God, I'm not dreaming." Dumilat na ako at nag lakad na, ignoring them. People were staring at me again, but I ignored them, as well. I ignored everyone except Anthony. Kasama ni Kirk ngayon ibang ka-team naman dahil unlike me, he was very friendly.

"Good news o bad news?" Anthony asked, while we were having lunch.

"Para maiba naman, good news. I really need something good right-" I stiffened. "Ano yung good news?" I forced myself not to notice them.

"Miss ka na ni Czarina."

My eyes widened. "Talaga?"

He nodded.

"Anyway, ano yung bad news?
