Demi.
It has been a month since I last saw Joe. I've trying so hard to keep up on Joe's case. I went to the doctors to check on my baby and I finally got to hear the baby's heartbeat a week ago. I even got a job at a smoothie shop in LA. I'm back in Dallas for Joe's court day. I was second guessing myself, I felt like it was right to get him out of jail, then I feel like it's not. My life have been pretty good since he's been out of the picture. Should I ruin that?
I was getting ready for court. I had my hair up in a tight bun. I had neutral makeup on my face. I had on a pink shirt with a gray blazer over the shirt. I slipped on a black pencil skirt and some heels. I checked myself out in the mirror and headed out of my hotel room. I was nervous about today, probably the fact I get to see his face.
I grabbed my purse and headed out the door. I car in my rental and drove to court. I listened to the radio while I drove there, hoping it would calm down my nerves.
I finally got to the courtroom. I headed inside. "Hello, I'm Demetria Lovato. I'm here for Joseph Jonas' court hearing." I went to the front desk of the courthouse.
"The first double doors on your left. Sit outside, they're not ready yet." the lady directed me. I told her thanks and headed over to the doors. I turned around the corner and was shocked to see Nick and Kevin.
"Demi?" they both said in unison. I kind of missed them. Felt like years since I saw them last.
"Hey...what are you guys doing here?" I sat on the bench next to them. They both chuckled at me. "We're his brothers, of course we're going to be here for his court day. We don't understand why you're here after what he did." Kevin looked over at me.
I didn't say a word to them after that.
We finally got called into the room. I decided to sit with brothers even though they did upset me. The room filled up with people. Even the media was here. I looked down at my lap, feeling so bad for Joe. He doesn't even get privacy for his hearing.
The side doors opened and two officers walked out with Joe. His hands were handcuffed of course. He was wearing his orange jump suit. His hair was not clean or trimmed, he even had some scruff going on his face.
He looked up from the ground and it felt like we locked eyes. I couldn't help but to have a little grin on my face for him. He sat down beside his lawyer, finally uncuffed. The judge walked out and got on his platform.
They started the hearing and they kept putting Joe down. It felt like he was going to be in prison. Everytime they spoke, I looked over at Joe. His head was down. I could tell he was upset.
"Do you have something to say,Joseph?" the judge asked. Joe leaned in to his lawyer's ear.
"Joseph requested for Demetria Lovato to speak." the lawyer told the judge, my mouth dropped. I was not prepared. I didn't know what to say.
"Is there a Demetria Lovato in here?" the judge asked the crowd. I stood up. I headed over to the platform next to the judge and sat down.
"I rather not be questioned...I just want to explain everything, please." the judge nodded his head, letting me know it's an okay.
"Well, I'm Demetria Lovato and I'm the daughter of the parents Joe shot.." I took a deep breath as the people gasped.
"Before you find him guilty, let me explain why he shouldn't be guilty," I looked over at Joe, "I started working as his assistant for his and his brother's recording company...the first few weeks, because Joe was being rude to me and at times I was close to quitting."
