The misadventures of a Main Character [Complete]

XXII - Encountering the ORRTBG

The duo approached the decrepit foothills of the troll kingdom. The landscape was stark, grey, and lifeless. Main pulled his backpack over his shoulders. It seemed a lot smaller than he remembered, as did his sword. It was now shorter than one of his arms; more of a glorified dagger than a longsword of death and destruction.

"Gregory's going to pay for this," Main said. "How did he get his necromancer powers, anyway?"

"On the same night you up and vanished forward into time, a bolt of red lightning struck Gregory. Come to think of it, a lot of stuff 'important to the plot stuff' happened on that night. I'll explain the rest later though."

They approached a massive stone bridge, an infinitely misty drop beneath it. Suddenly, a hulking figure stepped out in front of them. "Who's that stomping over my bridge?" they growled.

Main gulped. "Uhhh..."

The troll turned towards Main's illegible moan. "You! Answer me my riddles three, or the bridge you may not cross...itee!"

"Oh no!" Bevan gasped. "It's the Obligatory Riddle Rhyming Troll Bridge Guardian!"

Main clenched his teeth, clutching his sword-dagger tightly. "Begone, foul beast!" he yelled.

"Not before you answer me; my difficult riddles come in three!"

Main surveyed the troll's form. It looked much more capable of killing him than he was of it. He took a deep breath. "Fine. What are your riddles?"

The ORRTBG stood straighter. "What...is your name?"

"Macgyver Andrew Ignes Nevermore Catharty Haberdeen Astrophy Regali Andre Capper Terence Everdale Rectimine!" Main blurted.

"What...is your quest?"

"To find Gregorious Antagonia, the leader of the troll kingdom, and get answers about what he did to my beloved Buttercup!"

The troll guardian nodded. "What...is your favorite color?"

"Orange!"

The ORRTBG smiled a toothy grin. "My riddles you have answered true, and so I'll let you cross...woohoo!"
