As you stroll through the Mines with Jess, and Matt, you were losing hope for survival. The screeches of that creature were echoing around you, each time approaching closer. It was obvious the creature wouldn't allow all of you to slip out of the mines so sneakily, because it would obviously discover your presence as it roams.

But, from only one way.

You knew what you had to do. You knew this was the only other choice for your friends safety. You knew this was a risky decision, but, all the while, it was worth it. It was the right choice, with a great purpose.

"Hey," you sparked up nervously, your voice cracked, your throat in need of being cleared. "I think I'm gonna head down this way, explore the left, and you guys go the other."

"What? Are you crazy?" Matt remarked, worry coating his voice entirely. "No, I'm not leaving you alone, especially here. We aren't splitting up."

You felt he were to say that. Him always protective around you, and so deeply caring, but you knew, there was no other way for all of you to make it out alive. Matt had Emily. Jess had Mike. They deserve another chance to see them again, not lose them.

"Someone has to distract that thing, or else one of us die," you paused abruptly, choking back a begging for release, sob. "And if it is anyone of us, it should be me."

"No, (Y/N), stop thinking like that." He protested, and carried on to end the conversation. "We're gonna make it out of this, together."

He advanced to your side, taking hold of your forearm, and pulled you along to follow. But, you're stood unmovable, refusing to continue without taking action.

"Matt," I sighed, "I'm just gonna go down there, hide it out for a while in some safe spot, and you guys just get out. Hide." I concluded, forcing a decent smile. "It's for the greater good."

He didn't have the strength, our time to argue with you now, especially past the fact the screeches are approaching closer to your location.

He takes hold of your hand in his, squeezing it tightly, rubbing it's back solemnly. You mimicked the same as himself, swinging your arm gently with his.

"(Y/N)," his voice piped up, only nothing less than a faint whisper, full of reluctancy, and sadness. "Just- please come back... I don't wanna lose you." He forced out hesitantly, nervous for this being the end. This being the last time he may feel your touch, or, hear your voice. Just, mainly see life from you.

You stood tall, pressing your lips against his lovingly. Really, you didn't care if he was, or wasn't with Emily any longer. Last thing she could care about is if you made it out of this alive, never mind dead.

You returned firmly on your feet, mustering up the most believable smile, then speaking. "I don't plan on dying yet. Don't worry." You sighed. "Just- wait for me okay?" You finished with the greatest dose of assurance you could create, parting ways with the two.

"Be careful..." You heard Jess' faint voice call as you walked, yourself pausing.

"I'll try..." You whispered quietly to yourself, so no one else could hear.

You paced those mine shafts, the sound of dripping water echoing throughout the mines, your heart beating with speed, your adrenaline level increasing. The last thing you desired was to be doing this right now. More preferably, be by Matt's side, but, there is no way out of this now.

"Come on, (Y/N), gotta do this. Need to get back to Matt.." You rambled to yourself faintly, your eyes closing, and reopening for a moment, your inhaling, and exhaling slow.

As you proceeded time consumingly, the sound of that cannibalized Wendigo's screech punctured your ears painfully, causing you to cringe.

"Oh, fuck." You cussed under your breath, gaining speed as you began to run, the sound of that creature scurrying behind you, its sharp claws digging into the dirt terrain, coming close.

"Don't look back, don't look back." You told yourself, your breaths picking up speed, your head jerking to the left.

But, you know what? You couldn't resist the temptation of looking back.

Your head whips around, your feet beneath you losing balance, yourself tripping over a rock, but, still managed to keep on your feet.

But, it slowed you down. Waaaay down.

You watch dreadfully as the creature lunges at you, your eyes locking with it before closing them, every ounce of hope, and courage fading away.

You were tackled to the ground, treacherous screams escaping your mouth as the creature comes above you, pinning you down roughly.

"NO!"

It screeches, one finger, and nail coming firmly inside your mouth, your screams ending. It tugged forcefully on your jaw, it ripping out of place, no longer intact.

You gasped for air, this being something you never imagined happening for a long while.

It being your final breath taken here on Earth.

-3rd Person P.O.V-

You told Matt to wait for you in a safe spot, hold out Until Dawn, and keep Jess safe. You promised him you would be okay, only be distracting the creature, and you 'didn't plan on dying' then. He kept to his promise, but, you unfortunately couldn't keep to yours.

It felt like hours he had been waiting for your return in the bitter cold, optimistic he would see you again, hopeful he would see you again. But, that all faded after he heard the sounds of your screaming, and crying voice. The blood curdling pain in your voice, causing his heart to break in two.
He wouldn't see you again.

He gritted his teeth tightly, anger overpowering his sorrowful ways, just leaving him frustrated. His mind kept to the thought of himself being the cause of this. Letting you go alone on another path. Treating himself as an idiot for believing you would make it out of this alive on your own. But, you didn't, and he is caught guilty of that.

Jess beside him trembled in her pure, and utter fear, paralyzed in that position. She tried to stay calm, and keep to the mindset that it was all part of your way of distracting the creature. But, the screeches, the pain in your screams, the crunch, gasping for air, left her hopeless.

"Matt..." She croaked quietly, her throat feeling like a pool of lava as it burned from talking. "Is- (Y/N) okay?"

He didn't answer, just remained silent. His jaw clenched, he gripped her hand in his, assisting her up, and guiding her through the forest, seeking return to the Lodge.

As for you, you were to never be seen of again. But, you will be remembered for your worked up heroism, no matter if the person liked, or disliked you.

At least you knew of someone cared.
