"Sam, sit." Josh directed, gently pushing me onto a wooden dining chair.
I stared at him with confusion rushing through my body. I smile stupidly. "Yes, Josh?" I ask.
He came behind me, cloth in his hand. His spun it around with a devilish grin raising his chapped lips. He gave that face. The one that you get when someone is planning to scheme.
"What's up?" I ask, with a frown.
His grin grew wider. The cloth he had was put above my eyes. Tied fairly tight as it blocked my vision. Only darkness bombarding me.
That left me tense, anxious. I pushed myself back in the chair, my hands covering my knees, gripping them. "Okay, what the hell is going on?" I ask, slightly ticked off.
He chuckled. "No one told you?" He asked. "You're going on a blind date."
I giggle. "With?" I ask.
"It's a blind date, Sam." He laughed, patting my shoulder. "There is a reason it was given that name."
"Oh, okay." I sigh. "I know it isn't you, though."
"Obviously." He said.
He held onto my arm, and pulled me up. My balance was offset, and I felt a bit awkward this way. His hand squeezed my shoulders as he gave me direction.
"Does my date know about this?" I asked. I leaned my head back, feeling his chin on my head.
"Yes, they do." He said. "They planned this."
I nod. I didn't really wish it was someone in particular. Even though I had feelings for someone within the group. But I felt like it was hopeless now.
My feet felt glued to the ground as I hesitated to move. Nervousness fulfilling me. "Wait--" I say.
He frowned. "You good?"
"I'm not ready--" I spill, feeling a bit nauseous.
Josh sighed. "You know the person." He said. "Not like it's a complete stranger."
"Not my point," I said.
Josh was just silent. His hand gripped the doorknob, and twisted it. He guided me outside.
A brisk wind pierced my skin, sending a long shiver down my spine. The weather felt fairly good for my apparel. I wore a pair of a pale blue denim jeans, with rips traveling from top to bottom. I had a cropped black tank, with the same colored cardigan. A pair of short black boots was what I wore on my feet. My blonde hair fell a minimum of an inch beneath my shoulder, with a fresh curl. My appearance said I was ready. My body did not.
Every step I took towards Josh's vehicle made my entire body completely shake.
"Come on, Sammy." He opened the car door, letting me inside with a delicate shove. "They're waiting on you."
I took a breath, laying back. He shut the door. I draped the belt over my torso, as I pushed it inside its slot.
Josh got in beside me, as he started the car. It shook before I heard its engine roar. It's wheels rotated and brought us down the road.
The ride was tensely silent. I kept myself in a comfortable position, laying my head back, closing my eyes to pass time a bit faster.
Before I knew it, I heard those words.
"We're here." He informed, smiling.
He exited the car, as he wrapped around to get me. I unbuckled myself, as he pulled me out. His hands squeezed my shoulders as he guided me forward like he had done before.
The winds breeze had picked up, and became colder. I heard the very distant sound of waves crashing against the sand. It brought me to the mindset of being brought onto a beach. Romantic. But it wasn't a beach. The ground beneath was stone. Not sand.
"Watch your step." Josh warned, helping me down a set of three stairs.
It lead us to a straight path beyond that point, the sound of classical music increasing volume in my ear. A beautiful melody of a piano.
"Alright Sam." Josh said, a shiver sure to come to me. "Ready?"
I took a breath, nodding. I overheard some slight squeals of some of my other friends in the background. I smile.
"Okay.." He said. His hand came to the cloth, as its tightness loosened. Light broke in, my eyes readjusting. Until the blindfold was completely off.
I looked ahead of me. And there he was. The guy that went through a bunch of trouble just to make me happy. To make this a successful blind date.
Mike. Wearing a black button up shirt, and black slacks. The same color tie hanging from his neck.
Hot tears bubbled up in my eyes. My hands fell above my mouth as I took in my surroundings. A large gazebo. It's floors were a chocolate brown wooden floor in the center with assorted gray stone on the outskirts. Wood went up the sides, and also was its roof. Some stone on the top as well.
It has a two person table in the middle, the group surrounding it with gleaming smiles. The scenery behind it was breathtaking. The beach, and the water falling gently. The sun only shining a reddish light onto all of this.
I couldn't even look at him without at least one tear falling. "Oh my god.." I said, astonished. "You have got to be shitting me."
He laughed a gentle, heartwarming laugh.
"Surprise!" They all cheered happily.
I gazed fondly at Mike, as I shivered, overwhelmed. My cheeks were stained as I laughed through the tears, walking up to him, my arms wrapping around his torso immediately when I got there. His coming around my waist.
"Why did you do all of this for me?" I asked, completely at a loss for words.
He smiled. "A girl as good as you deserves nothing less than all of this."
I shivered, delighted by every word he said. As well as his embrace.
"You saved my ass back there." He added.
I smile, my cries fading. "Couldn't just let you do something like that, and leave you to die." I sniffled.
"We made a good team." He said, leaving me to smile wider.
"Yeah." I said. "We did."
We pulled away from that loving embrace, looking at each other with small smiles.
I couldn't help myself but to notice Mike biting his bottom lip, resisting this temptation to smash his lips into mine. I could tell. So I took charge.
My lips pushed into his, starting off gentle with the kiss. He was the one to make it more intense. Coming in rough, his hands coming behind my head, pushing back my hair, and closing our gap.
I smiled against his lips, pleased, my arms wrapping around his neck. He smiled right back, before he pulled away slowly, us both hearing the sound of a perfect ending to a kiss. Our eyes were both closed, our smiles faded, and our breaths fast.
Our foreheads came together. I bit my lips, still having a taste of him.
"I love you.." He spilled.
I smile. "I love you, too."
