Sam and Mike traveled through the mines in search of their mischievous friend Josh. They needed the key to the Cable Car. That was there only way out of this living Hell full of pranks and monstrous creatures. They needed to find him. Now.
The two came across a large body of cold, icy water. "Alright. I'm going in." Sam spoke heroically. Instead of her entering first, Mike was the one to drop in. The water rose up to the brim of his waist. He felt the coldness hit him immediately. Shivers traveled up his spine. "Come on. It's alright." He shook off his hands. The water bounced up to reach his fingers. "You sure?" She held her legs above the water as she sat there thinking it wasn't the safest option. It wasn't deep. At least where they were. "I'm not dead yet." Mike laughed. Sam now pushed herself into the water hesitantly. "Famous last words."
Se dropped in. The water rose higher on her body considering she was shorter than Mike. It came just about underneath her chest. "Oh. It's freezing! I can't feel my fingers." She held her hands above the body of water shaking them off. Her apparel didn't fit the situation properly. She wore tight sports pants up to her knees and a red sweatshirt covering her torso. Nothing more besides shoes obviously.
She walked in further. The water gradually became deeper and deeper as it covered most of her body. It stopped up at her neck. It soaked through her clothing and the water definitely dipped her fingers several times. It wasn't still. It moved up and down like very small waves in the ocean.
There were two paths to follow. Something told her to ditch Mike and go left. That's what she did. She did what felt best to her. She pulled herself out of the water waiting for Mike to join her. She stood up wiping the water dripping off her body. She noticed a brown, tarnished journal lying in the dirt. She knelt down in front of the book holding it in between her fingertips. Mike peeked over her shoulder. "Holy shit. This looks like Hannah's writing." He whispered. Sam read on reading pages upon pages of Hannah telling about her days in the mines. She survived the fall? How?
30 days into her survival... Something happened. "I'm.... Sorry Beth... This is the only way I can survive anymore... I'm dying.... If anyone finds this I'm sorry... I had no choice." Sam spoke aloud for Mike to hear. She looked up to him before reading the last two pages of the diary. Her nails pushed out. She felt no pain. She was getting stronger. The last Sam saw was scrawls of words saying 'HUNGRY'. She closed the book refusing to read anymore.
She turned to Mike. His hands covered his face as he begun thinking hard. His calmness just disappeared. "So," he raised his hands in the air. "So what? Did she kill her too? Her own sister!?" He raised his voice to Sam. "I don't know!" She begun a little argument with him. "How the hell could they stay alive down here!?" His voice raised high enough to echo. "I don't know, Michael!" She tried her hardest to keep calm, but she was loosing herself. "There has to be an answer down here!" Mike looked in all directions to no avail. There wasn't any other way to find out the truth besides experiencing it for themselves. "Mike..... Just..... Calm down....." Sam's voice lowered dramatically as she walked back over to the water. She hopped in followed by Mike. She dipped her fingers underwater. It definitely would effect her. Chills took over her body.
They walked straight across the water exiting on the opposite side. The two wiped off the cold water once again. They walked over to a large, rusty door. Sam tugged on the handle until it flew open. Water poured out from the inside with a disembodied head. Sam jumped away as Mike was pushed to the ground, the head at his feet. It caused the both of them to scream. Sam more than Mike. "Jesus she..... Jee...." He walked into the doorway with Sam in front. "What? Bodies..." She looked up. The body of the Stranger was hung there. The head outside belonged to him. "A lot of them.." Mike looked around the room. Sam recognized some of the people hung by the rope. ".... No!" She covered her mouth with her hand, keeping the other over her stomach. "I think I'm gonna be sick." Listening carefully, Mike heard the familiar voice of one of his friends. Josh. "Wait. Wait. Wait. I think I saw something." He put his face up against the wooden planks as Sam did the same. They spotted Josh. He was saying something to somebody. But no one was there. "I don't... I don't take orders from you!" Sam knew something was up. She walked over to an open gap between the somewhat fencing entering into the same open space he was in. "Josh!" She called for him. He kept speaking... To no one. He didn't hear her. "I don't take orders from you... You can't... You can't tell me what to do... You can't tell me what to do anymore.... You can't tell me what to do! O-Okay... Okay... I trust you... I trust you.... I trust you..."

Josh moved back and forth. "What's the matter with him...?" Sam studied his actions. "He's trippin' himself or something.... Josh!" Mike raised his hand to Josh's face giving him a rough slap across his face. He blinked coming back to reality once again. "M-Mike..." He stuttered. Mike gripped onto his shoulders. "Josh! Hey man!" He greeted. He shook him a bit before releasing his shoulders. "Don't h-h-hit me p-p-please." Josh stammered. Mike looked back to Sam. "Yeah... Sorry..." He apologized.
Sam looked into his eyes with hers sympathetic. "Josh... Hannah was down here... For weeks! A month! She dug Beth up!-" She informed. Mike shook his head. "Sam-" she turned to him. "Mike-" he ended the conversation. Josh wasn't in the best condition at that moment to hear that especially. "Let's just get the fuck outta here..." Mike turned to an exit.
Sam reached her hands out to Josh. "Do you have the key for the Cable Car?" She waited for an answer. "Uh- yeah. Here." He grabbed the key out of his back pocket, dropping it in Sam's cupped hands. She placed them in her jacket pocket. "Thank you." She smiled.
Sam followed a ray of light she noticed ahead of them. "Look. There seems to be a direct way out." She pointed. The exit was high up in the air. It wasn't easiest reach. Especially for Josh. Mike looked up. "Josh isn't gonna make it up there." Sam agreed intentionally understanding his wounds and condition. She may have been able to get up there with Mike but Josh wasn't fit for it. "Well, if you climb up there. You can return to the Lodge and tell the others we're okay. I'll go with Josh. See what we can find. They'll probably want to know how we are." She stood at Josh's side. Mike nodded. "Yeah..." Sam gave him a smile. "Be careful."

Sam and Josh walked down in the mines together. She kept silent as he did the same. They didn't have much to talk about. Sam didn't. Josh did. "Hey, Sam?" He croaked. She turned her head around to face him. "Yes, Josh?" He stop walking and just stood there staring into her bright green eyes. "Sam.. I'm so sorry about what I did to you... It's just that... I got so mad... They caused this to happened... They pranked my sister! That's why she's dead! But you didn't do anything... And I took anger out on you.... I'm sorry..." He rambled. She looked at him blankly. "Josh.. It's fine.. I understand that you are mad about what they did but.. That's not the best way to handle your grief..."
"Yeah, just understanding most of my friends hate me for this-" His eyes became glossy. Sam noticed. "I don't hate you." She reassured. "I care about you enough to not. No matter what you did!"
He felt a smile come across his lips. "Thanks, Sam. Means a lot." He walked side by side with her as the room with the bodies of victims of the Wendigo came into view. Sam kept her head low not wanting to see the horrible scene in front of her. It's one you see, you'll never forget it... Ever... ".... No...." A tear shed from Josh's eye. "I didn't want you to die..." His cries became more noticeable. "Josh... Don't look..." She whispered. He tried. But he couldn't. They walked through the ominous room, searching for the exit.
Leaving that area, they found another large body of water. One they recently left. "Josh. This the only way to go. I'm going in." She hopped into the water turning back to Josh several times before moving in any further. He dipped himself in slowly. The coldness soaked inside his clothes causing him to shiver. Sam kept a far distance in front of Josh never looking back now. She wanted out.
The water bubbled in front of her. She moved into them with no restraint holding her back. Until she was pulled underwater by something. She tried to speak. Cry for help. She failed. "Sam!" Josh shouted. He moved forward ahead of himself. "Sam!" He repeated her name again looking down into the water.
The further he moves the more bubbles there were. The water begun to rise when a creature jumped out of the water. It stood in front of Josh. "No, you're not.... Real! No you're not!" Its arm lunged to the collar of his shirt. "Hannah!?" He noticed the tattoo on the arm of the creature. It was a butterfly. The same exact tattoo Hannah got just to impress Mike. It held him in its hand dragging it along with him through the water. It recognized Josh. It didn't kill him.. "Nooooo! Nooooo!"
Sam kept her back against a rock trying her best to hide away from the creatures view. She broke away. She was lucky. Josh wasn't.. He's gone. No way to get him back now.
She watched as the creature dragged him away. "Josh...!" She whimpered quietly. She was crying inside her head but it wouldn't come out of her mouth. She had to remain silent. Still. There was no point in the both of them dying. She felt horrible to leave him. She had no choice. ".... No..."
