Matt X Reader: Mines

You and Matt walked down in the ominous mine shafts as time past closer to dawn. A small drop was found ahead of the both of you. Matt dropped down first helping you to the bottom.

"Do you think they'll ever find us?" You looked over to Matt. "I don't know (Y/N). All I want to do is get the hell out of here." He walked over to a small wooden table lighting the lantern he held in his hand with a match.

You watched him carefully resting a hand on the table. The other on your hip. You heard heavy breathing behind you and Matt. You jerked your head around to see Jess holding a shovel motioning for Matt's head. "Watch out!" You warned him. He turned around raising his hand up to stop the shovel from taking his head clean off.

Matt studied the girl in front of him. "J-Jess? Is that you..?" He noticed all the deep cuts and bruises all over her body. "What happened..?" You asked her concerned.

"Mike and I were... We were messing around and..." She stammered. "What!?" Matt couldn't believe all the cuts all over her. "I don't... I don't know... I was by the window... And there was all this glass and... Then it was in the snow... And it was moving so fast... Fuck.." She tried to explain. "That's horrible.." You felt sympathy for her. All that has happened tonight really didn't go her way. She got it bad.

"Can you move?" Matt looked to Jess. "Yeah." She nodded.

You, Matt, and Jess walked down through the mine shafts looking around for anything dangerous. You heard terrifying screeches echoing from  all directions. Awfully irregular. "What is that...?" You motioned closer to Matt's side. "I don't know, (Y/N). Just.. Stay close. Both of you." Jessica was lagging behind you and Matt. Mostly because of all the pain she was in at the moment.

Walking along the tracks, you clung onto Matt's arm tightly. You were terrified. The screech sounded again. Closer. Jess caught up to the both of you as you reached another open room. But, the screeches became louder. Something was behind you.

Matt whipped his head around as you did the same. "Ahh..." You let out a small cry. "Fuck.." A nonhuman figure with a thin body shape came into view. "(Y/N)! Jess!" Matt begun running ahead of the both of you. "Which way?" He shined his lantern in two directions. One to Hide. One to Run.

He gripped your hand tightly as he begun running up the path. "Come on! Come on come on!" You and Matt ran hand in hand up the path. You turned behind you seeing Jess moving slow. Too slow. The Wendigo caught up to her pushing her to the ground. Then placed a finger inside her mouth. She struggled and screamed. She shook her  head violently trying to break away. She couldn't. The Wendigo was hovering over her. "Jessica!" You scream.

She was silenced. The Wendigo tugged at her jaw ripping it off completely. "No!" Matt was speechless. The wrong decision killed one of your friends. "(Y/N)! We gotta go!" He screamed your name at this point dragging you to another dead end.

He used all the power he has left for breaking through a wooden barrier. He ran a bit to far. His foot hung over the edge of the cliffs end. The mountain was extremely far down. "Matt! No!" You yanked at his arm pulling him back with the strength you had. He fell backwards. Pulling him against a wall, the Wendigo came out through the doorway. "Don't... Move..." You whispered. It felt impossible to not move a muscle at this point.

The thin creature looked in the other direction luckily not noticing you, and Matt struggling to catch your breath. It turned to face you and Matt. You on the left closer to the Wendigo it came directly in front of your face. A centimeter away from knowing you were there. It screeched in your ear so very loud. It rang in your head as it backed away. Disappearing in the Mines once again.

You turned to Matt, burying your face in his letter jacket letting out endless sobs. You just lost one of your close friends. And nearly him. The one you liked the most. Your best friend. Your crush. "It's okay, (Y/N). We made it." He whispered soothingly in your ear.

You shook your head. "No. We didn't." You whimpered. "We lost Jess, Matt.."  Your cries became louder as he wrapped his arms around your back pulling you into an embrace. "I know." His voice shook.

You pulled your head away from his shoulder. He planted a kiss on your forehead. "We survived.... Until Dawn..."
