Together, Matt, and Emily proceeded down a trail surrounded by snow covered trees, and flakes falling above them. It was peaceful being away from the fights, and friends back at the Lodge, and just having some quality time to assist their relationship, and progress it to normal once again, considering what they just went through.Matt was all riled up by seeing Mike, and Emily on the trail, hugging, getting along well, leaving him awfully suspicious about where they stand, but he kept everything left to himself, not wanting to create any further conflict. Besides, Emily wasn't there to experience what happened, and he chose not to talk about it.
But, the main reason they were scavenging the depths of these woods was just for a missing bag, owned by Emily, which she no longer had possession of.
"Hey, Matt," Emily spoke up, taking a stop near a picnic table along the path. "Thanks for helping me find my bag, I know I was a little high maintenance about it."
"Not a problem," he assured her, a smile appearing upon his features. "As long as we get back, and get warm as promised, I'll be super fine." He winked mischievously, acting all flirtatious with her, setting a romantic mood for the conversation.
"In your dreams, lover boy." She mocked, her shattering the moment like glass breaking into several shards. "You gotta earn it."
"What's so important in this bag, anyway?" He asked unamused, still dreading to be out there, rather be sitting by the fire, cozy, and warm, comfortable in the closed space, enjoying the vacation. Instead, he was forced to do this. Be dragged around by his girlfriend, only to receive some 'precious cargo'.
"This bag, has all my- undergarments." She smiled devilishly, proceeding to walk.
"Well, why didn't you say this stuff was that important?" Matt teased, now obviously intrigued in the topic. "It would've solved the problem of me refusing to tag along."
"Well, you're here, so let's get going."
With that, he quickly caught up to her, keeping an eye out for a pink bag, with that pattern she adored so very much. Of course, now he cared about it once he realized what was inside. The for real, precious cargo.
The snow crunched beneath their feet, only more to come, the further they progressed down the trail, the landscape rising and falling constantly. The winds picked up, the storm soon enough, hopefully subsiding, but it was rather early, leaving a period of time before it should pass by.
Up the trail ahead of them, there was some sort of large tiki ahead, grasping Emily's attention.
"Woah, Matt!" She smiled, approaching it like a child approaching a candy store.
"What? You found your bag?" He asked, focusing on the reason they wandered out there.
"No, meat head, this thing." She pointed, looking up to the large structure.
"Oh..."
"You think there's something inside?" She asked, anxious to reach in, and find something valuable.
"No. This things are usually empty-"
"Too bad, I'm checking." She snapped, cutting him off.
"Okay..."
She slowly raised her hand up, coming closer to the opening in the structure. She then begun reaching her hand inside, nothing extravagant occurring. Everything just swell. Until, she screamed, her arm being somewhat yanked inside, leaving Matt perplexed.
He slowly walked around, not immediately falling for it, only to hear her break out into sheepish laughter, leaving him annoyed.
"Come on, Em..."
She continued to laugh aloud, childishly.
"Really?"
Her hand then came through the other end, her finger raised to him, as her laughter dialed down.
"Are you serious?" He snarled, obviously more on edge with her right then.
"What? Did I 'scare' you?" She laughed again, now more controlled.
"Reeeaaaaal mature." He mocked, walking away from her, continuing to search for her bag, no longer about 'that life'.
"Matt-" she sighed, now returning to a sort of maturity.
"No, no. Don't say anything. Just lets get going." He dismissed, pushing the topic away from their conversation.
"Aww, bae. Don't be mad." She pleaded, her lower lip quivering. (lulu29990 and I references. XD Okay I'll stop..)
All he did was laugh weakly at her.
"Kay, you aren't mad. Good." She sighed, somewhat relieved.
As they walked, a sound of a nonhuman screech sounded around in their facility, catching them by surprise.
".... Matt?..." Emily croaked nervously. "You heard that too, right?"
"Yeah.." He looked around, seeing nothing but the snow coming into his eyes. "I think we should go..,"
"Yeah," she agreed. "Forget my bag, that didn't sound good."
They proceed back down the same trail, now anxious to return back, and get away from that odd sound, now done with their journey.
But, really...
What was that?
