Almost 4 years ago, you met a guy you just feel as if he is your soul mate. He's your best friend. He's always been there. Always wanted you to be happy, and be safe, even if it puts him in a situation he can't get out of. In high school, about last year, there was another jock bullying you, and of course, Matt being the way he is, stood up for you. All the guys then going against him, trying to hurt him. He was your savior.
But you yourself, didn't know a way to confess your feelings to him. It is pretty obvious he already knows, and you know he feels the same way, but you don't want to do anything to ruin the bond you both have. You need him.
But now what you do need is to be there for him.
Today he returns to his football team after being kept on the sidelines for a recent injury. An opponent psychically hit him in his head, leaving him to have a concussion. The worst part, he was hit in the head with one of the helmets.
You sat on your couch, watching your favorite show from Netflix, passing time before leaving for this game. You constantly kept continuously looking at your notifications and time to see if one text was from Matt, or it was time you got up, and left your house. But it not yet happened.
The game begun at 7:00, only about 45 minutes away, but you were so anxious to be there. You were interested in sports, being athletic like Matt. You would even throw a ball back and forth with him on the weekends when both of you are together at his or your house. But, that was long ago. Prior to his injury. And now that he had that concussion, he hadn't been up to it. God, how much you missed doing all those thrilling activities with him.
You stood up from where you were sitting, turning off your TV, approaching your front door. You put your hands against the doors window, peeking through the fogged up glass, seeing nothing outside. Then pulling away from the door, feeling disappointed. You looked back to her phone, checking the time once again.
"Only two minutes? Really?" You complained, putting your phone into your sweatshirts front pocket.
You entered into your open concept kitchen, approaching the refrigerator, opening it, seeing your variety of healthy foods and others not so much. You saw a bottle of Aquafina water, grabbing it for the road. The waters exterior, covered in its own freezing liquid, you dried it with the palm of your hand, including your fingertips.
You placed the plastic materialized bottle down on the counter, leaving it in hands reach for when you are leaving to go to the game. You needed something, and preferred not to wait in a long line of people, just for a bottle of water. It sounded stupid just for one thing.
You went over to your couch, sprawling your body across its comfortable cushioning, your head burying in the pillow. You closed your eyes, not holding yourself back from falling asleep, which you did.

"(Y/N)!" A voice called from outside your door, banging on it, forcing you to wake. You jumped up off the couch in pure perplexity, quickly sprinting over to the front door, unlocking it, and swinging it open. There stood Matt in front of you, now once again back in his football attire, greeting you with a smile.
"Did I wake you?" He laughed, noticing you breathing quickly, your hair sticking up in a few places.
"You scared me awake, Matt." You confessed, laughing sheepishly with him.
"Whatever, but we gotta go!" He informed, showing you the time on his phone. You were sleeping for fifteen minutes, and only twenty minutes remaining until the game begins.
