A/N: I am just going to apologise now: I think in this Kai is a little out of character in this part but hopefully enough to make it noticeable!

'Wha- urm, excuse me, what? How do you know about that?' Kai continued to stare at you with a slight smirk on his face.

'Hi. I'm Kai. The newly elected leader of the Gemini Coven, remember?' He leaned close to you; his head just beside yours. 'I know every little desire in that cold, dead heart of yours.' Kai pulled back with a smirk on his face. You could feel your mouth hanging slightly open in shock.

'I can't...' You took a moment to compose yourself. 'There's no more cures. Whilst you were in your own little box of hell, we...' You didn't want to divulge too much to him. 'They're all gone.'

Kai shrugged. 'There are other ways of becoming human that don't require a cure. Like I said. I'm mega powerful now.'

Suddenly, you heard your name being called from your brothers from inside the house. You turned in the direction of the voices; confused as to why it had taken them this long to come after you. When you turned back, Kai was standing right in front of you. You jumped back slightly in shock. You might be a vampire but even an 'all powerful leader' of a coven could take you by surprise.

'Think about it,' he said lightly; his eyes forever taking you in. He smiled as he walked past you, only stopping just a bit behind. 'Of course, don't take too long. These new emotions of mine could get out of hand.' Kai leaned closer towards you; his mouth suddenly by your ear. 'One minute I could be enjoying myself in the sun... Next...' His voice dropped to a whisper. 'I could strangle your friends to death.'

You listened to the crunch of gravel underneath his boots as he walked away. 'I was definitely wrong about you,' you announced.You heard the shuffle of boots on the ground, indicating that Kai was still walking but had turned around. 'You haven't changed at all,' you finished over your shoulder.

'Well; let's hope that you can change that. For both your friends sake and our own.'

Your brothers crashed through the front door just as the sound of Kai's footsteps dissolved; the only sound you heard was the faint breeze in the air mixed with Stefan and Damon's panting.

'What the hell happened to you?' Damon asked in a not too friendly tone. 'Was Kai with you?'

'We couldn't hear anything past the main room and we couldn't leave.'

'Stupid magic dick had blocked us.'

'Hey.' Stefan moved to stand in front of you; his hands on your shoulders, different to Kai. 'Are you okay?'

There went Stefan again. Despite being 3 years younger than you, in human years of course, he always acted like the older brother. 'I'm fine...'

That night, you couldn't stop thinking about what Kai had said. There could be another way to become human. That was all you ever wanted. But, was the prize worth the price?

Maybe helping Kai deal with his emotions would benefit everyone. There was no harm in trying, of course. It wouldn't be your fault if your methods failed. As long as Kai kept his end of the bargain, then you could become-

A quick rap of knuckles against your door made you shoot up to a sitting position on your bed. You hadn't even heard the knocker walk up the stairs towards your room. Had your vampire senses been dulled or something?
