I mentioned this in the last part, but I don't hate school. I actually rather enjoy it, with exception to the part of the teachers and the other students.
Believe it or not, I don't actually have that many friends, even at school. I have three friends there and a few people that aren't terrified of speaking to me. My friends and I don't really talk. I'm not really much of one to just talk because talking. I feel like a lot of people are. I honestly prefer people who are more content to just sit by me, or not I don't care, and just read. Don't talk though because you'll be interrupting my reading time. I would rather sit there and write. I would rather sit there and do school work. I would rather do any of those than talk. Truth is, I don't have much to say verbally. Obviously, it's the opposite case when it comes down to this kind of thing. But I always have a lot of thoughts swirling around in my brain and this is how I honestly sort them out. Trust me this book is tame compared to "An Ending" which is literally just what happens in my life and me ranting to myself.
Enough about that though. I'm writing this part to explain why I like school so that you can understand me better.
First we're going to start off with a question I got recently from EmsyGfield. The questions is: What was your favorite moment of school in the past 5 years?
First I have to think back to what grade that even would put me in at the earliest. Let's see I'm a senior now so 12th grade (or year 13 for anyone who uses that system). That would put me back at between 7th and 8th grade (or year 8 and 9).
Knowing that now, I can completely rule out almost all of 7th and 8th grade because it was hell. The only good thing that happened in that time frame was I met my best friend in 6th grade and our friendship really started in 7th grade.
I can' pinpoint any particular moment that was my favorite in that time frame or in all the time I've been in school. Honestly, I love school for the learning aspect of it. So I guess my favorite moment would be learning something I already didn't know.
That last sentence probably has you questioning things now. When I learned something I already didn't know? You see, teachers have never really taught me shit in school. Why? Because the pace that school is set at is slow to me. I could take that entire 7 hour school day and condense everything that is done in it a matter of 2-3 hours. I tend to catch on to things faster than others, so there's always so much down time to me. One thing I absolutely fucking hate is down time. It's just empty time. You're not doing anything. You're literally wasting time when you could be doing something else. So to help get rid of down time, I do other things during class. I get all that is due for the next day done during my classes the day the assignments assigned. After I get that done, I start working ahead in school so that's why teachers don't really ever teach me anything . . . because I already taught myself. My freshman year (year 10) I taught myself all of algebra I. Why? Because the class was too slow. I finished the entire course before the half-way mark for the year.
Summers I have a love/hate relationship. There's so much down time if you don't have anything to do. So I make myself have things to do. I make writing schedule by week. I need to write the next chapter of Fire is Raging On by Tuesday. I need to edit the next chapter of The Hunger Games: Peeta's POV by Wednesday. I need to write the next part for this book by Thursday. I need to write the next part of An Ending on Friday. The only thing that really changes about my schedule is the days. But I always make sure I write a part for something every day. What's today? Sunday. I'm writing this even though I already wrote a part for something else. Why? I have some down time. I don't post things right away obviously. I just save them and upload them on the dates I plan to upload on.
Even with me writing this second part today, I still have down time. Why do you think I've read 3 books the past 2 1/2 days. I'm starting on another after I finish typing this. Well, I might write the idea down for the next part first.
I'm kind of a workaholic. I'll admit that. I need to be doing something. I can't just sit there and watch TV. I have to be doing something else to. I need something to engage my brain actually like reading or writing because when you watch TV you're just mindlessly staring at it.
This is the part where you can call me crazy. I was taking 7 classes last year in the 8 periods we have for classes. So I had one study hall. I fucking hated it. It was down time. How many classes am I taking this upcoming school year? 9 or 10 (I might drop the one as it doesn't fit in my schedule) and 2 of those classes are college classes. I shouldn't have down time in there.
That's a lot of classes, you might be thinking. What could they possibly be? Well, I'm taking 3 math classes next year. Why in the world would I do that? Who likes math? I do. The only kind of math I don't really like is geometry. I don't hate it, I just don't like it.
I said I'm taking 2 college classes next year. What could those be? Isn't it stressful to take 3 math classes and 2 college classes? Probably. Do I care? No. I won't have down time. I've take a college class before and I honestly don't think it took up too much time. I'm even getting out of all the history classes I would need to take in college because of how good I did in that class. To answer what classes could they possibly be: AP English Literature and AP US Government. Why am I taking those when neither of them have to do with what I'm going to go to college for? One to just learn. Two, I need to take at least 2 government courses in college and depending on how I do in the class, I can get out of them by taking it next year and at a cheaper price. Why English? Because no matter what I go to school for I'm going to have to take English classes. Might as well, try to knock a few of them out and save money.
So as a whole next year I'm taking: Advanced Math, Pre-calculus, Statistics, AP English Literature, AP US Government, Advanced Art, Anatomy/Physiology, Band, American Sign Language 201/202, and one I'm probably dropping Psychology.
Call me crazy, I don't care. I hate down time and don't hate learning.
Side note: I honestly don't understand people who say they hate reading, but will spend a large amount of time reading Buzzfeed and other sites on their phone. You're still reading then. You have to read everyday. So how do you possibly hate it?
