Okay I was asked by FireflyForeverlark how I make my book covers. I mostly use my computer to make covers. I have used my phone to make a cover or banner before, but on my phone it just a lot of me clicking random things until the cover changes to something I like. Any of my pictures I post on Tumblr are just me clicking on random things until it changes. But on the computer it's a little different.
On the computer I use PicMonkey. I just use the free features because I'm too cheap to get the paid version of it. So I'll walk you through the process of how I make a cover. And because I haven't made a cover for the next book I'm going to be working on, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones: Jace's POV, I'll be doing a cover that today.
So, the first thing I do is pick a picture I want to use. Personally, I use Google. You can use Yahoo or Bing if you want but I don't know many people that do.

Here, I found a picture I want to use. I bring it into PicMonkey and I crop out the parts I don't want to use like the date at the bottom and the quote at the top.

Next, I change the exposure of the picture. Stuff like the brightness, highlights, shadows, contrast.

Now, I'll work on sharpening the picture. This is where I mess with the sharpness and clarity of the picture.

Now, I just change the size of the image to fit wattpad's cover dimensions. I believe the last time I checked it was 256 wide by 400 tall. I'm going to add a picture for this since all it is is resized.
Finally, I just add some text to the picture.

So there you have it. That's how I make covers for my stories on here. I do the same thing for banners except I don't do the resizing part. I usually just leave the picture in it's original dimensions.
