Ways to Reduce Stress During Midterms & Finals

Maybe this is a random time to be posting this, but it's midterms week for me. Exams are stressful, especially in college/university. So I have some tips on how to reduce that stress. 

1. Unplug from social media. 

Get off social media. Don't go on it when you have to be studying for exams. It's really that simple. If you get on social media, you'll procrastinate, which is not beneficial for studying. There are actually studies out there that show that social media itself is stressful. I'm horrible at social media personally. Like I use this and Tumblr and Snapchat. But that's it. I don't even post stories on Snapchat, but I digress. So how do you unplug from social media? Log out, delete the app, do whatever it takes to not go on them when you're supposed to be studying. 

2. Time Management

I don't like to do the typical time management of I'll study this from this time to this time. Or I'll do this from this time to this time. Because quite frankly, I don't know how long it's going to take me to do things or study for something. I could think it's going to take me an hour and in reality, it takes to me 2. So that doesn't work for me. I don't get how people do it. So what I like to do is make a daily to-do list. I don't make it overly long, but I put what I can reasonably get done in a day on it. For example, I'm actually writing this part in January even though it's being posted in March. But today, on my to-do list I have a few things to do. 

- Write 2 pages for CoA:JPOV (coming soon by the time I post this)

- Discussion 3 post for Women's Health

- Finish assignment 1 for Chemistry 

- Write this post for AMQ

- Chemistry notes

- Read Chapters 30 and 35.1 for biology

- Biology notes

I have half of these done already today and it's 4. I started at about 11 this morning. 

3. Sleep

This is fucking obvious. If you don't get enough sleep, you fucking stress out. Simple as that. Just fucking sleep enough. Stop staying up late to get another hour of studying in, it's not helping you. 

4. Eat well

I know it's easy to eat shit. I do it all the time. But don't eat pizza for every meal. Eat some other shit in there like fruits and vegetables. 

5. Stop drinking things with caffeine

Stop drinking coffee and pop/soda. It's not fucking helping you with your stress. It's also going to fuck with your sleep. 

6. Planning

This goes back to time management a bit. But make a study plan for exams. It helps. Do something like study a chapter or two a day until the exam. It helps to make a plan for your studying.
