So, scrolling through Tumblr I found a lovely little blog with writing prompts. Now, looking through these prompts have got me mind flowing . . . with opinions on these prompts and small little plot stories. These are purely for your entertainment. I'm not going to make them into actual stories (I don't think I will), and the blog says these prompts are to inspire you to write.
I'll put the prompt in bold for you, and my opinion/story/commentary in just regular text. (Regular text meaning like what this is written in, you know? Just ignore my rambling right now, it's late at night when I'm writing this.)
Also, note I'm adding in at a later time because I realized I should have this, trigger warning. I start to go into suicide and depression about 3 prompts in. At this time that's where I am and I don't know what else my brain will conjure up. So you've been warned.
You found a number that can truly answer any question through a SMS. Over the next few days you use it to your advantage such as winning the lottery. One day you get curious and decide to message "what happens after you die?" what you see next horrifies your inner being.
First off, winning the lottery equals huge plus. what happens after you die though is the real question. what happens? You fucking die. But let's say, there is something after you die. You could reincarnate. But that would hardly horrify your inner being. You could go to heaven or hell. But that wouldn't horrify you. Not even hell really. Major religions all mention that happening. You could take it ancient Egyptian style and say they have to weigh your soul and shit. But that's not that horrifying. You could haunt people but again could possibly turn out very non-horrifying. Let's go with . . . that demons torture you unless you go out and harm all those close to you.
when you die you can stay as long as you want as a ghost. The year is 2028 and the crew of the first human mission to mars has no idea that the ship is filled with the ghosts of hundreds of scientists, explorers, and intellectuals.
Okay, so what happens? If I was one of these ghosts I would do some serious fucking around with these people. Or let's go with the theory that ghosts are spirits replaying some event. You with me? It's okay, most people think I'm crazy and can't follow me. Anyways, all the ghosts on the ship are just replaying some event in their history. None of the ghosts know about the other ghosts. They're just going through their routine. The people on the mission start experiencing some weird shit they can't explain. Seeing shit, shit moving, hearing shit. The new mission? Finding out what the hell is going on, and trying to find a way to put these spirits to rest.
You buy a special camera at the pawn shop. Every photo you take, it shows a snapshot of 10 years ago. You take a picture of your dog and it shows him 10 years ago when he was a puppy. Everything is all fun and games, until you decide to take a picture of your bedroom one night.
So obviously, this needs to take a dark turn since everything was all fun and games. I could go the route of ghosts again, but I've used that quite a bit. So let's go with that you see a teenager going through depression in the picture and that in the picture this teenager is committing suicide. Your job is to figure out the story behind this teenager. what happened? why did this happen? In the process you uncover a dark secret within the town that leads to a huge upheaval of the local officials.
Scientists finally made a computer that's almost as complicated as a human brain. But it doesn't do anything, instead just sitting, dead and silent. Until the day when you come in and it boots up, the first words coming through it's speakers, "Finally, a vacant body."
Okay, so you're dead on the inside and computers take over the world and humans become their slaves. (Like that wasn't the reality all ready in our world.)
The human race has gone extinct. A scout ship from a neighboring solar system lands on Earth, only to find hundreds of millions of time capsules buried every 5 feet in a grid pattern covering all land on earth.
Their coffins. The remaining people buried the dead humans until they too died.
You're a lazy high school student of the far future, give us your very poorly researched essay on 2016.
Let's not make this an actual essay because as the prompt says we're lazy. So I'll make a list.
- Donald Trump became president
- The American public is a huge mess of uneducated pieces of shit (A/N: Clinton and Trump were both horrible candidates. The American public fucked up in the primaries)
- Gators attacked people at Disney because Disney doesn't know how to keep fucking gators out of their parks. why is the park even that close to gators?
- Harambe, a fucking gorilla, was killed because some dumbass parent doesn't know how to watch their fucking kid
- People mourned a fucking gorilla for fucking months
- People voted for Harambe to be president like a bunch of dumbasses
- Still no cure for ebola with new cases appearing in Africa
- Zika spreading
- Terrorist attacks rising
- Teenage dumbasses set the Smokey Mountains on fire, killing hundreds of thousands of animals and destroying almost all of Gatlinburg, Tennesse
- Increase in hate crimes
- David Bowie and Prince fucking die
Do I need to continue?
You're a serial killer who is unknowingly on a date with another serial killer. You go back to their place and things get . . . interesting.
You try to kill each other and then you both confess you're serial killers. So then, you team up and start killing people together. It's one of the romantic things. #relationshipgoals
So I feel like that's a good place to stop for now. Let me know if you want a part 2.
