So, if you know me pretty well, then you know I have a love for conspiracy theories. I don't always believe them, but I love learning new conspiracy theories. There are a few I can jump on board with and that's where the title of this part comes into play. I may get in trouble for delving too deep into these theories. If you've ever watched Shane Dawson, then you know where my love of conspiracy theories started.
I'm not going to go on forever today about conspiracy theories because most no one (except me) wants to sit down and read conspiracy theories all damn day.
But, I'm going to get into some conspiracy theories.
#1 William Shakespeare
There is this conspiracy theory that William Shakespeare didn't actually write his plays or sonnets. It's actually a theory supported by many scholars. Even Mark Twain said, "So far as anybody actually knows and can prove, Shakespeare of Stratford-on-Avon never wrote a play in his life." There is a reason for this belief.
Hardly any of Shakespeare's life has been documented. Not surprising given the time he lived in, but there is no documents involving his writings. why is that when Shakespeare's writing is considered one of the greatest bodies of work in English literature? Even scholars searching for documentation of Shakespeare's life in the few decades following his death, couldn't find really anything. Most of what they did find was found out to be fake.
Then, there's the question of how he knew certain things. Shakespeare wrote on extensive topics with intimate knowledge of life in the English court. He came from very humble beings with a very limited education. I'm not saying that he can't rise in social class, but think of difficult that is today, and multiply it in Shakespeare's time.
So who could be the author of these works? It points in a few different directions. One could be Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford. Edward de Vere was highly educated as you would expect an Earl of Oxford to be. He, also, traveled to many of the places Shakespeare work centers on. It's rather hard to write on a location that you haven't visted (or in today's day in age we can just google the information). So how would Shakespeare be able write so extensively on places he never visited? If de Vere really did write the Shakespearean works, it would make sense about how he would have such knowledge of the locations and of the English court.
Another candidate for the real author of Shakespeare's works is Sir Francis Bacon. He was educated at Cambridge, helped invent the scientific method, traveled, and was the leader of a literary society. He also had extensive knowledge of the English court as he was a member of the Privy Council and a Lord Chancellor. Although it's believed if Bacon is the author, he didn't do it all himself. It's believed he had help from Sir Walter Raleigh and Edmund Spenser.
Yet, even still, there is other possible candidates for Shakespeare's work. Christopher Marlowe is another leading candidate. Marlowe has published himself, and computer comparisons have found word patterns and usage to be almost identical between Marlowe's work and Shakespeare. Of course, that doesn't point anything out specifically because two people can have similar writing styles. Also, Shakespeare and Marlowe were born only a few months apart.
Truthfully, I could see this theory as being true. I haven't gone through all the research because I don't have a decade to do so, but I don't think it's all that too far-fetched.
#2 Alien Lizards
I don't know if you've heard this one, but there's a belief that all the world leaders are reptilians and/or aliens.
It's believed that these alien lizards are either shape-shifting or that they zip themselves up into human suits. There's not much 'evidence' of this one. Or really much that talks a whole lot about in the first 3 Google search result pages. But, I had to add this one because it's funny. People think that our world leaders are alien lizards set on taking over Earth. The stupidity behind this one, made me just have to add it to the list. I don't think aliens are too far fetched because think of how big space is and we haven't seen everything out there. But world leaders being alien lizards is for the crazies out there. (Sorry, not sorry if you're one of the crazies.)
